This book is probably the most informative and practical guide on the subject of acid reflux and heartburn that I have ever read https://tr.im/acidrefluxtreat
I was prescribed Lansoprazole which was brilliant but after two years of aching joints, extreme muscle pain which the doc gave me cortisone jags for, with some research I discovered the drug Lansoprazole was causing these rare side effects but it was I who diagnosed it NOT my doctor, I came off the drug 2 months ago, changed my diet and discovered just eating an apple stops any acid reflux, I eat an apple before bed, brilliant no acid, any time I feel the slightest sign of reflux I simply eat an apple. Apple juice is not that good nor is anything else I have tried including honey at stopping reflux.

you could try sleeping in an elevated position. Also, be sure not to eat or drink anything (except water) for a few hours before bed. Are you being careful of what you eat, too? People with Acid reflux should avoid spicy and acidic foods.
try to see a doctor as soon as you can. Chronic reflux can cause serious problems short term and long term. http://heartburn.about.com/

Try more Prilosec OTC - like most OTC's, it's a wimped down version of the prescription. Take two of them.
When it wakes you up, take alka-seltzer. It's the only thing that worked well and fast enough.
Nexium would probably do it, but I'd try more Prilosec OTC.

I have really bad acid reflux myself and so .... what i would recommend is for you to visit your doctor and get a prescription for a stronger dose of prilosec and take as directed.. ( I have taken up to two times a day myself one in the morning and one at night)... but that varies with the person and should be directed by your GP..also u can try peppermint tea at night before bed this seems to help calm things down abit.. also try cutting out eating late, and eating things that are spicy and have onions in them . Hope any of these helps! Oh and try sleeping with alot of pillows to get your head at an angle to make sure its propped up alittle this sems to help the reflux action stay calmed down abit but dont use to many or you may hurt your neck and back..

Nexium will most likely work, but remember Nexium is a drug. Try taking digestive enzymes. Super Enzyme by Twin Labs is very good. Any good brand should help. Also taking a natural remedy is not a chemical and can be beneficial for other ailments. I take 8 to 10 a day if I need it.

The best way to sleep with acid reflux is to elevate your head while you sleep. They make pillows just for acid reflux suffers. Check out their website. Good luck on getting some much needed rest.

you might need a stronger dose for which you need a prescription otc's are much smaller doses than the prescribed versions of prilosec and zantac you could try adding a dose of mylanta or maalox with the prilosec and see if that helps first i would suggest you see a doctor however GERD can damage your body over prolonged periods

NEXIUM is a miracle drug. Granted if your heartburn is really bad - you may be on it for the rest of your life - like me! I take one a day (sometimes two - if I eat spicy food) and it last 24 hrs. See your doctor and tell him you NEED Nexium - 40 Mg works wonders - one pill a day!!!!
