foreign vehicles are the answer to your blue collar and lower white collar family's they have the gas mileage overall top mileage before scrap or trade in over all more dependant usually better warranty and more cost effective not to mention that for the most part more environmentally safe! it is sad that our home land auto makers are even having there parts, motors, etc. made by foreign manufacturers and is somthing that deserves change.

If Ford could produce a vehicle with out recalling half the fleet or not be plagued with electrical problems over and over and that was consumer friendly at a decent price, people probably would buy American.
Almost the same w/ Chevrolet. The fact of the matter is that Asian manufacturers can produce more efficient vehicles at lower prices that people actually like. When American car makers take the initiative and start doing the same, there may just be a change in the wind.

Yours is one of many illustrations of where the U.S. economy is heading.
I always try to buy U.S. made, but seldom do we see pure U.S. made anywhere, anymore.
Globalization took care of that, and globalization is here to stay.
In my driveway sit two cars that look alike, both Fords, and both built 15 years ago when it seemed America was still an economic power. They were built like cars should be built.
All the junk on the roads today have great engines, but really nothing else going for them. You can put all the frickin air bags you can find into them, and still when they crash, they total.
We need to get back to basics.
I don't see myself driving anything else but these two beauties, which I maintain and keep it top condition because I feel they will save my life, and look good getting there as well.
I wrote to the Ford Motor Company, and they said they would take heed, but so far, they are sinking like a rock in the face of all those foreign made things that are so huge and yet so empty.
All these newer vehicles do for me is block my vision on the road.
..........the answers are coming in about being "cheap". Cheap, cheap, cheap. Sounds like birds singing.
Cheap people as well, worthless junk and if you call twenty five grand cheap, think again.
.........I had to look twice, Warren and "Z" ? Twins? I know you can't answer your own question. Hah!
Hey Warren is right. (I don't want to turn this into a chat room).
There should be more given to American workers and less to the top corporate executives. To continue on this course where the American worker gets the shaft is going to deplete the entire country. Nobody is picking up the ball on this issue.

The perception is that foreign vehicles are of higher quality than our domestic product. The truth of the matter is that the "Big 3" have drastically improved on their product over the years, as can be researched through Consumer Reports and other websites. People should be aware that (a) they pay too much for imports, (b) service is more expensive, and (c) deals are always better with domestic product, i.e. interest rates, rebates and so forth. It would be great for our economy if people only realized that the automobile industry crisis is primarily due to those who support and purchase foreign vehicles.

It costs about$45 an hour to build a foreign car..(non union). It costs about $65 an hour to build an american car. There apears to be slightly better quality in foreign product. This is a capitalistic country. Which car would you buy? That's the problem. We want the best for less. And what we do with our money tells the tale.

The Japanese companies are opening plants in the U.S.
Blame the unions. They have made it very hard to afford the manpower needed in a unionized auto plant. The companies are also largely to blame for not taking better care of their employees.
Americans are among the best workers in the world. It's a shame they don't get cared for a little better.
We aren't related, are we? Know anyone from Chicago?

Did you know that a Toyota has more American parts than a Ford does? They are cheaper to produce overseas. The Japanese still care about quality more than the bottom line (something our car companies forgot a looong time ago). China is getting ready to becaome a HUGE financial giant in the world. Take heed Americans we better wake the hell up NOW!!!

Because the foregin cars run better, are more reliable and more fuel efficient. If American manufacturers want to compete, they will have to step up their game. But even most American manufacturers use some labor in other countries.
Why are you against giving jobs to poor poeple in other countries anyway? Are they less valuable than Americans? You should take a trip to a third world country and learn how badly they need the jobs.
Americans who are in industries that are shrinking need to redirect themselves into another industry. How about Solar panel manufacturing?

Buying a car from national manufactures ideally sounds great.
But when it comes to average person … giving out his/her hard earned money from his/her pocket then it boils down to affordability and value for Money. For a average person (in 99% cases), stomach hunger will comes first than any other agenda.
Why are stuck with cars brands when brands like Unilevel, P&G, Coke, Pepsi etc are a global presence and no local brand is able to beat them.

Because they are reliable, get great gas mileage and they
handle/stop very well! The foreigners say Asians and Germans are efficient.
so they engineer a car that will last because they don't have the
money to waste...Like us American. You can't find food in there
trash cans. Their cars last years.....Ours break down because
we must support our billion dollar part industry!
