I read an awesome essay a long time ago where they compared Jesus to Hercules. The similarities were more than you would think.

As far as the differences between "old" and "new" religions, there really aren't many. They all involve supernatural things, they all rely almost completely on faith, and they all attempt to explain difficult concepts by saying "God did it." There's not many differences. But honestly, Christianity and Islam might very well be considered mythology by human society several centuries from now.

How do you define old from new. In the last 10 years, 50 years, 100 years, or nearly 2000 years. People began mixing in rituals and observances from pagan religions, with their Christian beliefs, as far back as the Apostle Paul.

He said that he felt like he had worked for nothing, because they had gone back to the rituals, observances, and holidays of men. These would include birthdays, and anything else that Christ did not specifically say for us to do. They got the idea that is Christ didn't say not to do something, than it must be okay.

There is no difference between old and new religion. All are exploiting the spiritual side of human being.

Organized religion never contribute anything to spirituality. One must have to do in his own mind the search for truth to realization. All other propaganda are meaning less. Only to encourage unwanted competition and hardship to global society

I am not sure what you mean by 'old' and 'new' religions but to speak about divine religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam), in essence they are the same, before any alteration took place. Basically, they call for worshipping only one God, that is Allah. Rituals may differ but morals are the same, the basic haram and halal is the same. All religions consider lying, killing, cheating, adultry, stealing, etc haram. I hope this answers your question.

Christianity is a new religion, has only been around for about 2000 years. It copied old rites and rituals that were already established.

They both acknowledge that there is something greater than them selves that set things in motion.
The older religions more or less follow the first part of Genesis. as the people relied on the Sun and other elements to provide them with substance( Earth, soil;water, rain;air, oxygen).
Other than that it is the names of any Deities.

The only similarity would be that all religions have pre-defined rules and regulations on which we have to base our lives.

However, religions without rules are quite sad.
