I had a flu shot yesterday. Today I feel like crap. Muscle aches, weakness, headache. I have had many flu shots and never this kind of reaction before. Dr. says it is a side effect of the shot that sometimes happens. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yep, totally normal. Happens to probably at least 1/2 the peoplewho get the flu shot.
Each year, the 'mixture' in the flu shot is different (scientists work frantically all year to try and determine which varieties of flu will be prevalent in the upcoming flu season), so that is why you might get a mild flu-type reaction one year, but not the next.

I hope you feel better soon, but it is normal for the flu vaccination to cause soreness at the sight of injection, mild aches and pains,fever and feeling unwell, which usually settles afters a few days.
The flu is highly infectious, to those at risk such as elderly people over 65, asthmatics, diabetes, immunodeficiency disease etc. It is also recommended that those who are in high risk jobs, such as Doctors, nurses, carers etc, to have the flu vaccine.
However there is a few people who should NOT have the flu vaccine are people who have allergies to eggs, are hypertensive to the vaccine, or if you have had a fever in the last few days.
Signs for a allergic reactions to look for itchy rash or hives swelling of arm which (fairly minor). However the following is major, feeling dizzy, breathing difficulties etc. And you need to seek medical attention immediately.
I can't have the flu vaccine, due to allergy. I believe there is a fairly new vaccine that does not use eggs as a base to the vaccine.
