parkinsons is inherited and mostly its men who get it, so just be there for her, and make sure shes getting the best treatment she can, and you might think of having someone live with her, if shes alone because she will need help. falling is a big danger with parkinsons. i doubt that meds caused the parkinsons, but the parkinsons can cause the depression. keep her busy as much as you can , so she doesnt think of it.

Parkinson's is a strange disease, there are many different things that have been suggested it is caused by, however the fact for now remains it is incurable and hard for people to go through, both person and family, you should read and talk to others that have dealt with family members who have had it, my grandmother had it and towards the end we had to feed her because she was too shaky to eat as well as take care of all her other necessities so become aware of what will happen, it is a slow disease usually so that helps both you and her adjust to it a bit... and the most important thing I think you do for her is let her know you are there whenever she needs you, but don't try to interfere with her independence, she will be capable of doing things on her own for quite awhile physically, but see if there are other people around your mom's age who have been recently diagnosed with the disease so she can have a support group amongst peers and visit her more often, that way when she does begin to need you physically it wont seem like shes burdening you as much in her head so shell be more inclined to ask for help

Make sure she keeps her insurance. Be sure that she is checked to be diagnosed for Parkinson's or not. Parkinson's can be treated so that it will be better but I don't know whether it can be cured. Start investigating resources because she might need help in taking care of herself. God bless you and her.
Been there, done that.

i think that it is very good for you to be helping your mom out. what you need to do is comfort her and help her out with everything that you can do. She needs to be told good things when she is depressed not bad things. try not to talk about the disease if she is really depressed because that could make it worse.
