Do both of yourselves a favor and buy a rice cooker or steamer. I have the Black and Decker combo rice and veggie steamer. It cooks the rice perfect every time.

Rice cooking can be tricky.. yes extremely dry or gooey and sticky.. An old lady told me a secret. Rince your rice a few times (the powdery starch on the outside is what makes it sticky later). Then after you either fry a bit of onion & garlic and put in whatever spices you like. Or even no spices. Do add a bit of salt in the very least. Put just enough water over the rice to reach about 1inch over. I measure it with my thumb. if its 1 knuckle above the rice, thats the amount of water. Bring it to a boil, then cover it and turn the heat down to low and do not touch it, look at it, stir it or anything for 20 min.. After that it will be moist, fluffy, and the right feeling..

Dude - rice doesn't have much taste if you're using a standard rice that most people by in America. You might want to try jasmine rice, personally I don't like the taste, however, my husband loves it. I had a rice cooker, it was waste of counter space, although for the rice challenged it could be helpful. The key to regular white rice is to remember it's 2 parts liquid to 1 part rice, with a little bit extra water thrown in for good measure. It take approximately 20 minuties to cook rice and it's best to cook it with the lid on. If you live in a high elevation like I do in WY you'll have to cook it longer and add a bit more water. I add a tablespoon or so of GOOD olive oil and a mixed spice like Tastefully Simple's season salt, or Spike, or Morton's Nature's Seasoning. If you don't want to add salt, try Morton's salt free spice blends. Print this question and tell your wife that you don't want to hurt her feelings but the rice could be better.

Buy your wife the rice cooker, perfect rice every time and do yourself a favor and purchase chinese rice at a chinese grocer,I buy a brand name Rose,it has much more flavor, then regular store bought rice and you will be able to smell the aroma, the next time your wife is cooking rice. It's very delicious,I use to make gravy all the time when I cooked regular rice now I just love the flavor of the rice and crave for it alone.

Yes you should, but can you do better? The trick with rice is to heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan and fry the rice until it's all coated. Then add boiling water stir once, turn down low and cover until the water is absorbed. double the water to rice
i.e. 2 ounces of rice 4 ounces water and so on.

Use a rice cooker... & let's say you wanna cook 1 cup of rice, then you have to use 2 cups of water to cook it... If 2 cups of rice, then use 3 cups of water & so on... It will be just fine, not to dry & not soggy...

Be honest to your wife & tell her how you'd really feel about her cooking... I hope she will take your comments on a positive way... Good luck... ;-)

Have you tried to see if you could do better? Another suggestion is to try brown rice-it has more flavor and texture. The cooking is different, though,so read instructions.

In addition to purchasing a rice steamer for her, purchase some jasmine rice. Tell her you thought it would be nice to try something different. Or you could be rude and say hon your food stinks and buy one for yourself to use alone in your new place after she boots you out.

She likely detests the stuff too, humans weren't meant to eat grains, feed it to chickens, pigs or cattle and enjoy a nice roast with potatoes and peas and carrots, you know, real food. If humans were meant to eat what is basically grass seed God would have put a flour mill in our face instead of nice teeth for chewing up veggies, fruit and animals..
