Navy blue and maroon look great with a forest green. Since you didn't mention the shade of green...
If it is lime green, I would say pink and aqua if you are going for a modern theme.
The navy, blue, maroon theme is much more inviting and you can add beige to cool it up in the summer. I also think you will find if you stick to dark colors, you will be able to change your decor more easily and it will be more affordable. You could change it easily by changing throw pillow colors for example. There are lots of small, affordable tricks if you have a good base to start your decorating.

What shade of green?

You can use different shades of green.
You can go earthy and use whites, beiges, browns, etc.

You can keep the cool colors: greens, blues, purples.

Or you can go to the tangent colors: yellow, reds, oranges.

Depending on what you are desiring, one of those schemes should work.

Good luck.
