Yes women can drive ....No text in Qur'an or Hadith prohibited woman from working.
Islam not against working women as long as the work is lawful and the women can maintain their Islamic dress code. However, Islam does not allow intermingling of sexes. Hence, Islam does not permit a woman to take up jobs such as modeling, serving liquor, acting in films, etc., and jobs where men and women work together. No wonder that the various ‘Sting Operations’ have disclosed the hidden scenes behind the screen of the world of ‘glamour’ letting the world know what many ladies have to undergo in order to be known to the masses as actresses and models.

I am a muslim in a muslim country and so many women drive. Some of them are veiled and others are not, it's up to them. There is nothing in Islam that prevents women from driving.
I am sure some would say that Islam came before the invention of cars, as did Christianity. Religions set broad rules and you look at what comes up in our lives due to science and modernisation in the light of the broad rules.
Others would say that since it is OK in Islam, why don't women drive in Saudi Arabia? I would refer this to cultural reasons more than religous ones.
Thank you.

The Qur'an says men and women are EQUAL. the situation that goes on in a lot of Middle Eastern and African countries is a product of culture and haddith......not the Qur'an which is the only source of true Islam...so women in true Islam have every right to drive etc. They have every right to work, control their own financial affairs, get an education, get a divorce and remarry, by and sell property, speak up, run a country (the most fair and greatest leader in the Qur'an and Islam was the Queen of Sheba). Did you know that Muhammed married hs boss, and that she proposed to him and that he was known to help sow and cook for his wife?
There is problem with a lot of Muslim's culture, but there is not a problem with the Qur'an or Islam.........
And don't believe about the law about going out of the house either...this is just ridiculous interpetation.........he will get his just deserts too for misinterpreting something to this degree.
And there is no mention in the Qur'an about Muhammed marrying Aisha when she was nine years old...this is the producto f haddith which is not the word of God but the word of men.

Islam is not against women driving, not against women working. Its only profession which make women as object of sexual desire that is not allowed in Islam. Such as modeling, dancing ect. We muslims do not want to sell our mothers and daughters in the name of art and fashion. We respect women, we love them and we have a very high regards for them.

If the quran says anything, then you'll know that the writers are liars and blasphemers, since they didn't have cars 1500 years ago. Islam should say nothing, but the clerics always do what they can to put women down, the bunch of homosexual women haters.

In Islam, they are allowed to drive, just like men.
They have some social restrictions in Saudi Arabia but in the rest of the Muslim world, they drive their own cars and bikes.

The muslim women can drive cars as much as can men drive...
it is just the law of Islam applies when they go out of their houses...
The law is that a woman can go out of her house with a MALE who is either her father, or brother, or maternal uncle or paternal uncle.
(those which are family & close)
Not with those with whom she can marry, except with whom she has married.(ie she can go out with her husband)
The law is on going out of house ...
No on driving...
All over the world muslim women drive cars .....
except in Saudia Arabia
(only because of culture, NOT Islam)
At the time when Islam was spreading, there weren't cars, but there were horse buggies & camels carts etc...
I dont see any prohibition on women driving those vehicles....
