they think its ok because they are in the flesh but the truth is, is that when you do it shows you have lust in your heart.

People will believe what they want and what they are told.

~~~
"Is it wrong to scratch when you itch, or sneeze or cough, or hiccup?"
Is it wrong for me to strike someone when they offend me?
Even if I have a very real physical desire to do so?
Yes, it is. Also, this analogy is for the most part misleading as hiccups, sneezing, and coughing are, at least a majority of the time, involuntary bodily responses. Masturbation, unlike hiccups or sneezing or coughing, isn't spontaneous.
Also, scratching an itch is often one thing you don't want to do to stop itching.
~~~

"why do you think you have the right to decide for the whole world what is right or wrong?"

Because (I answer this in the first person), I am a human, capable of and willing to execute reason and rational thought. That's how I can decide for the whole world that, for example, killing every child less than two years old is wrong.

~~~
"...if someone can masturbate without allowing their mind/heart to get wrapped up in sinful thoughts (thereby committing sins in their heart) then masturbation should be ok."
Your reasoning matches mine. But how do we rectify this with the Levitical Law?
"'When any man has a bodily discharge, the discharge is unclean." Leviticus 15:2
" 'You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them.' " Leviticus 15:31
"These are the regulations for a man with a discharge, for anyone made unclean by an emission of semen,..." Leviticus 15:32
There is no listed difference between married and single people in this text.
~~
"why is it you feel that its wrong?"
How I feel about it is irrelevant to its rightness or wrongness. Or else murder becomes right because it "feels right" to murderers.
~~
"Because if you were not supposed to do it, it would not feel so good and be so easy to reach."
So does whether something feel good or not determine its rightness? Even if I Really feel like hitting someone with my car, it's not right to do so.
Or consider that just because a baseball bat is close to me doesn't mean that whatever I do with it is morally sound.
~~
"Is it because they do it and thus refuse to admit that it is wrong?"
Maybe it's because not everyone is as uptight as you and honestly sees nothing wrong with it. I get my touch on everyday. So what? If you don't like it or feel that your own body is "gross" then don't do it. Just because you feel that something natural is wrong doesn't mean normal human beings are going to look down on it.
By the way, what do you think women have a clitoris for?? Seeing it's purely there for sexual pleasure, it is I that would like your answer to this.
OK, Now, I've been searching through your questions from this evening, and let me explain to you a view of mine, that may help you understand some things about what I (stress 'I') think about masturbation, sex, drugs, alcohol, etc...
The greatest gift God gave us was life and the freedom to choose in this life. We can choose to follow him; we can choose to live in sin; we can choose to walk the line. When we become ADDICTED to something, it abuses that gift of choice God gave us.
I honestly do not have a problem with masturbation; God gave me the parts to do it with, I'm married and have a healthy sexual relationship with my husband, but whatever I want to do with my body is up to me, that's the choice God gave me! Now, when your (and I mean everyone by 'your') thoughts are controlled by sex, pornography, masturbation, you cannot focus on God, you cannot think about him because you are addicted to the thought of something else... THAT is where the sin really lies, I believe.
Now, I think that religion says to abstain from things like drugs, sex, pornography, alcohol, pre-marital sex, masturbation is because they are very alluring things... they make you feel good inside and out. People as a whole have a hard time hearing Sunday in church from their pastor, "Brother Smith, you do not have the control to abstain from liquor, I'm sorry you can't drink... Brother Justin on the other hand, you don't have such addictive tendancies..." Some people simply do not have the self control others do, and while one person may not become addicted to masturbation and can do it judiciously, another may not and after doing it once or twice, can't keep their hands out of their pants. It's easier for religion to "lump" it all up into one big "group" rule.
Although, I believe organized religion definitely has it's merits, I think it is even more important to have a personal relationship with God. It is better that he tells you what is best then your pastor or pope or bishop, after all he is your creator and he knows you best!
Everyone does not think it is ok. Funny thing though, it should be taught that it is ok as long as it is not done as a public spectacle (done to shock others). Look how many teen pregnancies, rapes, bad marriages, communicable diseases, etc, could be avoided if masturbation were chosen instead.
"Masturbation is like the game of bridge, Weedwacker," as my guru once told me, "if you have a good hand, you do not need a partner." And hearing this, I was enlightened.
No, it is because IT IS OK first and IT IS NOT WRONG TO DO IT
It is a fuction of the body that acts as a physical valve to the unmaterialistic mind
Any function that has been engineered within the body can be safely used. No harm
Dont be a bigot
Maybe because it doesn't hurt anyone and makes you feel good. Is there some particular reason we should think it's wrong?
It's also normal and healthy, especially for men. Men need occasional discharge, and it helps people relax by relieving sexual tension.
Edit: Well, if you're "just looking for answers" you shouldn't insinuate that we're all evil and in denial with your question. That invites us to insult you because we feel offended.
Because it’s normal.
It’s natural.
If you don’t have the release it’s going to happen involuntarily while you’re sleeping. So how can that be evil?
Some of the most messed up adults I’ve ever known were taught it was evil.
Baby doll, if you are masturbating, and it's only ok...you're doing it WRONG!
I think masturbation is fan-friggin-tastic!
Can I get a Whoop Whoop?
Saddam honey, you're just jealous that you don't know how to do it right. If god didn't want me to masturbate, he'd have given me arms like a T-Rex. As luck would have it...I CAN REACH!
2006-10-11 04:37:29 · answer #9 · answered by Karring Kat 3 · 3 1
Because if you were not supposed to do it, it would not feel so good and be so easy to reach.
Who said it was wrong to pleasure yourself?
The Church.
Why?
Because they wanted all those little sperms to grow up and be little churchgoers who would give their money to the church.
