Supercomputers are mainly used for scientific researches. They are also used by organizations like NASA to control their rockets and probes and other spacecrafts.

among the applications for Supercomputing are predicting weather patterns Tornadoes and climate change (Global Warming.) Calculating the Trajectory for Space travel e.g. the Space Shuttle, visualizing new designs e.g the new Airbus passenger jet. Simulating tests for engineers e.g. the bridge built in Kobe, Japan, used Supercomputing to simulate earthquakes and Hurricane force winds to check if the structure could withstand these events.
Supercomputing is also used in the creation of CGI for the film industry. My advice is to think of any task which requires multi-million calculations to create a virtual interpretation of an event and this will require the use of supercomputers.

Supercomputers are used for highly calculation-intensive tasks such as weather forecasting, climate research (including research into global warming), molecular modeling (computing the structures and properties of chemical compounds, biological macromolecules, polymers, and crystals), physical simulations (such as simulation of airplanes in wind tunnels, simulation of the detonation of nuclear weapons, and research into nuclear fusion), cryptanalysis, and the like. Major universities, military agencies and scientific research laboratories are heavy users.

If it takes ages to produce a result in microcomputers (PC) and minicomputers (fridge-size) it is certainly something only left to supercomputers.
For example, it takes a week to "predict" the weather tomorrow using a PC; it had to be done using a super.
It would have taken a century to model galaxies and astronomy using a PC; it had to be done using a super.
It would have taken years to compute the tragectory and fuel for a NASA Mars mission; it had to be done using a super.

there are no "supercomputer" applications
it is just apps that take up a lot of memory
like video editing software and graphics
editing software ect....................................
