No. This issue was decided by the Supreme Court. The issue was brought up because of entrapment laws. The Supreme Court unanimously decided that law enforcement do not have to identify themselves if they are asked only if they wish to detain, question, or execute a warrant. They also decided that law enforcement does not have the right to violate the law even if it is for the sole purpose of exposing a much larger conspiracy.

Police love that people think that-The answer is NO. There are so many ways they can "bolt you up" it's ridiculous. Keep thinkin' that and you'll wonder why your locked up. Quit doin' illegal **** and your worries will be nothing. Your playing with fire and you will get caught. Plainclothes field investigators will put you away, after lying to your face. In some cases they will do drugs right in front of you, then lock yo *** up..........keep playin'!!!!

Sometimes the person who gets you caught is just an informant (and not working as a police officer, but for them), the cops will let this person do their thing (drugs etc.) in exchange for information.

Any cop has to show ID when asked. Undercover cops don't, they usually have to hide who they are, but plain clothes cops are just cops walking around trying to spot any crimes they can deal with. At least thats what I get from TV and movies...
Also, with unmarked cars you should NEVER pull over until you are in a well-lit, public area. Dial #77 on your cell phone if an unmarked car tries pulling you over and inform the person that picks up that you are going to pull over at the nearest gas station/public place possible. Some rapists use an unmarked police car trick to lure women into pulling over for them. Just... FYI, I guess...

No. It wouldn't be too healthy for an officer to walk into a crack house and then declare "Why yes, I am a police officer" when asked. An officer cannot entice a person into committing a crime but he is under no obligation to notify anyone that he is there to witness it.

i could in no way consent to a request to seek. they are violating your precise to privateness whilst they seek and not using a warrant. the properly suited answer is to civilly decline the request - as "there is not something to discover". in case you do not conform to a seek, that's not when you consider which you have some thing to hide by way of fact the "officer" above shows. that's a thoroughly BS assumption that a common cop could in all probability have - so what - enable them to get a warrant and practice it - or extra effective yet they seek once you refuse and have all information discarded in court docket for unlawful seek and siezure - whether it extremely is a corpse with the knife nonetheless in it which includes your fingerprints throughout it. i'm thoroughly ill of this society thinking that's alright to violate further and further of my/our very own freedoms.

No. Law enforcement officers never tell the truth. Just shut up, take the cuffs and let your lawyer work it out. Again---shut up.

Depends on who is doing the asking, and the situation. I mean, you're not going to admit to a mafia don while you're working undercover, that you're a cop.
