The company you are making the cheque out to will be paid up to the limit of the gaurantee on the card e.g. £50 or £100, if the check exceeds that I think it may bounce. Your bank will charge you however if you go into a non-agreed overdraft. Keep in mind if you are paying by cheque you will have a few days to pay some dosh into your account to cover the amount.
If you have no dosh - I would suggest mugging somone, selling drugs or perhaps an organ. Sperm donation also pays!

Depends on the bank. HSBC went through a period where it would not honour cheque guarantee cards if there was nothing in the bank. They got away with it because of a small print clause. I believe this has now stopped, but banks will charge you if you go over your (overdraft) limit using a guarantee card.

Yes - the card guarantees payment by the vbank unless the beneficiary hasn't taken appropriate steps to record the card no. etc on the back of the cheque.

im quite sure that unless u have money in your account by the time the cheque clears the company wont get paid.
which is why a lot of places (where i live) are not accepting cheques any longer.
if you have no money dont buy something lol :)

Someone recently asked this and said they wanted to 'screw the bank'. If that is your goal, YOU are the one that will be 'screwed'.
