Do dogs ever get periods?

Omg, my dog goes into HEAT 2 times and year and I hate it. I need to get her fixed but I just have been putting it off and then she starts up again. Its a MESS and I have heard can be unhealthy for female dogs. Get yours FIXED!!

Female dogs have a heat cycle about twice a year, not periods. They usually have their first heat at about 6-8 months.

Yes absolutely. Whenever a dog is "in heat" she is having her period. This only happens about once a year, and boy do the male dogs know it when it happens :>)

Not monthly like humans, but unaltered female dogs (bitches) shed blood similiar to human women's periods when they are in heat.
Female dogs that have been fixed will not do this.
Next time you're at the pet store notice that they sell diapers for dogs---they are for dogs in heat, to catch the blood.

Yeah they can. When female dogs get in heat, they sometimes bleed a little. Not as much as a human though.

yes female dogs do but it is call there in heat,. they want to go fined a male dog . i no this i use to have lots of dogs but i had to get rid of them cause i had to move but yes they do

Yes they do but not as often as the human female. If you desex them they stop getting their periods.

for dogs this is called a "heat" when someone says their dog is "in heat" this is basially a doggy period and her most fertile time.
