allergic reactions are the most common cause of rashes.

it's hard to say what caused the rash without knowing what your family member has eaten, touched, or come in contact with recently before the rash broke out.

best way to treat the rash is to try and pinpoint the cause-if the person breaks out after eating something then they are more than likely allergic to that food or something in it and shouldn't eat it again-the more a person comes into contact with an allergy-the worse the reaction gets, eventually leading to anaphylaxis ( closing of the throat due to swelling from an allergic reaction-causes the person to stop breathing).

if it's a perfume, dye, soap or something similar-that certain substance needs to be removed from the home and not used again.

for the rash itself-try using benadryl cream or hydrocortisone cream directly to the rash. oral bendadryl tablets can also be used but they will make you very drowsy so it shouldn't be taken before driving, or going to work/school, etc. for children-use the oral bendadryl suspension liquid only-read the label on the back for recommended dosage-it goes by weight and age. for adults-take 1-2 of the 25mg tablets every 6-8 hours but no more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

if it's a persistant problem-a trip to the dr may be necessary to have a stronger medicine prescribed. things such as pets, dust, and pollen can be treated with a once a day allergy pill to prevent the rash

good luck!!

It depends on the reason for the rashes, whether its caused through a allergy through contact or through something they have eaten. Maybe its a eczema caused through something, or a mere irritation.
Soap powders are know for this, something in the diet etc.
There are oils that are available from your Pharmacy that you can put in the bath that will relieve systems or creams you can apply, but really you should do your best to find out the cause and eliminate it if you can. There are also tests that can be done to find out if it is an allergy and trace down the cause.

Rashes can be caused by allergens ard the house, if whole family is having it, maybe you shud organise a Big spring cleaning, esp. the carpets, beds, pillows, bolsters, curtains.
Wash them with very hot water & dettol to kill germs.

Keep camomile lotion ready at home, it's good for almost any skin rashes, which is quite mild. For itchiness, keep a tube of hydrocortisone which will stop itch.

But still the root have to be identified, allergic to certain foods or pet fur can also be the culprit.

Well, according to natural holistic school of thought, having rashes is your body signalling to you that your liver is a little weaker. Even if it is an allergy to certain allergens, the root of the problem is likely to still be your liver.

For short term purposes, you can apply rash relieve creams like calamine lotion on it.

In long run, it is good to practise good habits to protect your liver:
- sleep early
- don't drink (too much) alchohol, coffee
- don't take (too much) fried/oily foods

Alternatively, if you want to get rid of it completely, I would recommend a complete detox. I specialize in helping do detoxes to rid them of their health problems.

A friend's wife had allergies to seafoods and would have rashes whenever she took seafoods. After the detox, she took seafood soup and was surprised to find that there were no rashes. ;)

If you would like to find out more about the detox, email me at verityy@yahoo.com

I keep flax seed oil in the freezer and use it when ever I have a rash. I smear a thin coat on the rash and often one application will do the trick. The flax seed oil seems to take the burning itch away immediately.

rashes have many causes. my suggestion is to use a mild soap when you bathe like dove or ivory. you should alternate between aquaphor(moisturizing ointment made by eucerin) and a hydro-cortisone cream about 3 times per day. this was what a pediatrician told me to do for my young son. good luck

depends on the rash. if its like a heat rash, or poison ivy try taking a bath in aveeno. never scratch them because they could spread. if its reoccurring you could have a skin disorder and there are creams they can prescribe to help or even cure it, depending on what it is

Aveeno oatmeal bath. Aveeno itch cream. Benadryl for itching-the pill or the rub on. either one will work. also get some lotion for dry skin.
