that all depends on what you are going to do with the dog, as well as personal preference. i went with a boxer because i like the bully breeds, and they don't have a horrible rep like others in that catergory. i also wanted a pet not a hunting dog or anything else, mine is a companion. if you hunt or are into that type of stuff, try a lab or retriever, or a pointer like a britney, or springer spaniel, also take into consideration on size depending on where you live. if you have an apartemnt or condo a smaller dog might be more suitable, a rottwieler or st. bernard doesn't fit so well in 900 sq ft. and how is your lifestyle, are you an active person, you might want an active, if you're not, vice versa. i can go on and on based on my personal experience with dogs, but that should start you out for now

It totally depends on the person. Active people should choose active dogs. Couch potatoes should choose the same. If you thinking purebred, you can always look into the personality traits of the breed. If you are picking out a mixed breed, look for the crazy little maniac running in circles if you're active or the puppy sleeping in the corner if you like calm and relaxed.

That is a hard question to answer. Different breeds have different personality traits and different behavioral issues! Also one dog from a specific breed can behave completely different from another dog of the same breed based on how they were raised. For example... I had a Rotweiler who was VERY well bahaved and SUPER lovabale!! But a lady down the street had the same type of dog and he was Very agressive.
It just depends on your needs and how you care for the dog!

Believe it or not, Dobermans. I was afraid of them until I adopted an abused puppy and did research. They are the only dog bread to protect humans, because they relate well to people and are easily trained. You would not believe how much my dog knows and I am a lousy trainer. They are sensitive, intelligent and loyal as hell. My Lucy is the sweetest dog ever. she adores me, but even better she adores my four year old daughter and I know she would die to protect her. I once saw her get pissed at a Rottweiler 4 times her size, only time I ever saw her growl, and though she is super sweet, she can hold her own, but only when absolutely necessary.

It depends on the type of person you are and why you want a dog. Jack Russel Terriors are great for someone that is active and likes to play with their pet. Sheperds are good for people that want a guard dog. If you could let me know about your personality and why you want a dog, it would be easier for me to tell you what type of dog would be best for you!

I have never owned a dog better than a chihuahua. They are the best companion dog in the world. I cannot imagine life without them in my life.
