tried and angry?

I am facing a 4 yrs old kid who will easily get angry when she was tried but still want to play and refuse to sleep. sometime she will angry for nothing. When she angry for nothing, most of the time I would try to talk to her and let her focus on other thing and later she will agree to sleep.
But someone told me i should punish her instead of doing all the talking thing. Beat her, she will know that it is not right to angry for nothing.

What do u think?

time out is not a good idea for her. Cos sometime she was not just angry but also crying loudly. If you said want to beat her in front of her during that time, she will cry even louder.

The reason she acts out like that is because she is too tired. It's important that a child lay down as soon as they show signs of being tired. (They slow down a bit, they rub their eyes, they get quiet...that sort of thing) If you wait too long, they get what we think is a second wind and because they are too tired the get very emotional and hyped up. my daughter starts to throw temper tantrum and then plays very loud and starts doing everything she knows she's not supposed to do.

Please don't hit your child. That teaches violence and that's not the right lesson you want her to learn. Not all children like to sleep. There are three things you can't force a child to do. Eat, sleep and poop in the potty all the time (that's what my daughter's pedi said) If you just sit down with her when you sees the signs of getting tired and maybe read a book or watch a fav television show with the volume down so she has to be quiet to hear, you'll have more success than whoopin' her I promise. It also gives you close quality time to bond.

You'de have to put her in a corner and let her cry it out a couple times, so she can know daddy is not playing and she is not the boss. Beating her won't solve anything unless you try other ideas first. when night time comes put her in her bed and lay her down and constantly reiterate that it's night time and big girls go to bed,

tell her who all goes to bed, use characters that she's interested in. make night time a time to spend together so she can look forward to going to bed.

Of coarse she is not going to agree to this and fight you all the way until she wins. But you have to be strong and stay strict to the new rules of all big girls go to bed and that's it. if she dpoesn't understand it and throws a tantrum, put her in the corner and let her cry it out, she'll be sleepy by the time she finishes.

Over time and a little persistance you'll have a sweet little girl who will put herself to sleep without a problem like i do

I used to be a nanny for a 4 year-old girl that would have HORRIBLE temper tantrums when she got over-tired, and I would put her in her bedroom for a time out and most of the time she would fall asleep.

I think hitting a child is an acceptable form of discipline. My parents used to do it to me. Just a simple spank. Don't overdo it though or it will mess your kid up psychologically..

she won't sit still for a story or hold still to be rocked. I know 4 is a little old to be rocked, but if it will help ya know?
