I've heard that the ice makers on airlines are not cleaned often and can contain harmful bacteria. The only articles I can find on the subject are related to a 12 year old's science project. Is there a more reputable answer to this question?

it is true that if ice makers arent cleaned out it grows bacteria and can make you sick causing diarrhea. i would try to avoid it unless you know for sure they clean them. i saw this on the news a while back. a restaraunt got shut down for it

You scared me dude, I thought at first u were hanging off the wing. News flash, they don't make the ice cubes on board, everything is shipped in. As for the cleaning of the plane? Have you ever encountered a company that did it right?
