In Matthew
4:8, it states that the Devil had taken
Jesus up a mountain where he could see "all the kingdoms of the
world." This would not be possible unless the Earth was flat; even the
kingdoms that someone living in the Middle East could have known about
cannot be seen all at once, except from outer space. And the Earth has
no mountains that high.

iWow whoever you are , how pathetic must you be to spend all this time attempting to attack other people's beliefs when even the constitution allows and guarantees people to practice any religion they choose.

I would imagine that Lucifer has some pretty impressive powers, but I don't concern myself with the comings and goings of the spiritual beings of the Bible (angels and the Devil, etc.) I prefer to concentrate on Christ's message. This is no indication of a flat Earth, anyway, and there is nothing in the Bible to indicate round or flat earth.

The ancient Greeks knew the Earth was round, by the way. They could see the shadow of the Earth on the moon during a lunar eclipse, and Archimedes once calculated the circumference of the Earth by measuring the angle of sunlight in wellshafts at different locations (he predated Christ).

In Job, the oldest book in the Bible, is says that the earth is round and rests on "nothing at all." But the situation in Matthew is not a question of a real mountain from which to see ALL the kingdoms of the world. Where would they be located? Arent some of them in the future and in the past? You see, something else is being said here.

Unless of course, the Bible was speaking of all the KNOWN kingdoms at the time.
The world wasn't that large then, and there were only a few large kingdoms. So actually, that does make sense.
Other than that, no, the Bible never makes a claim that the Earth is flat.

Mat 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
If you look up the word mountain it comes from the Greek
"Probably a from an obsolete word ὄρω orō (to rise or “rear”; perhaps akin to G142; compare G3733); a mountain (as lifting itself above the plain): - hill, mount (-ain)."
and the word "kingdoms"
comes from
"G932
βασιλεία
basileia
bas-il-i'-ah
From G935; properly royalty, that is, (abstractly) rule, or (concretely) a realm (literally or figuratively): - kingdom, + reign."

Basically when he was showing Jesus all the kingdoms he was showing heavenly realms. Remember
Eph 6:12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
He was showing Jesus all the places that God gave him power and was offering it to Jesus to forsake God.
So when he showed the kingdoms it was not countries or buildings physically, but in the realm of the spiritual world.
Good sources to study are bible concordances so you can take a look at where the words originated from.
A great site is

Its a free download of KJV Bible with the Strongs Concordance, and you can download other reference tools to study verses on your own. It's great.

Kudos to the Isaiah 40:22 reference! Made all my jabbering obsolete!

The Bible was written by people and not God. To the people who wrote the Bible, maybe they could see all the kingdoms of the Earth, all the ones they knew existed at the time, which to them, must be it. It just shows how little we knew about things then.

There is believe that Seth, Adams son built the Great pyramid.
Science has noticed from the measurements of it that the person that built it knew the world was round because the measurements are proportional to the world exactly.
The pyramid was built between 3500- 4000BC, just before the world flooded.

The Bible does not lay claim that the world is flat, rather it supports the known theory that the world is rounded. Those who do not study before they throw out accusatory words often find themselves embittered and embarrassed.
