I bought a used TV from a friend recently. The picture from the A/V input (my DVD player) is crystal clear. However, the picture from my cable (using the standard coax cable) is never great, and often filled with static to the point that its unwatchable. If I jiggle the cable around, I can usually get a watchable picture for a while. (This is standard cable, not digital.)

I believe the problem has something to do with the TV's coax cable input being lose, or the attached wiring inside being loose. Any way I can fix this myself?

Open shield or center pin on the coax cable, or the coax jack on the TV has come loose/unsoldered. check the coax jack on the back of the TV to see if it's kinda loose, if so buy a cheap soldering iron for R/S and some solder and use it. Or replace the end of the cable, depending on inspection.

The first thing I would do is to replace the end of the coax cable. There are some DIY solutions available at Walmart, Radio Shack etc. You can either get a crimp type connector but you have to use a crimper tool. There is also a screw on type connector to use without the tool. Either one will require some type of splicing skill. If that isnt your problem I would next consider replacing the entire cable from your TV to your Box outside the house.

relies upon lots on the prevalent of your cables and your television, yet frequently the RCA cables supply you a extra perfect, extra good photograph, there is far less room for noise to get in by way of fact it would not have the great bandwidth that coaxial cable has. verify you have good cables the two way, they do make a distinction.

Center conductor may be too short to get proper contact with the
tuner input. Radio Shack sells new ends and an inexpesive crimp tool if you want to tackle it yourself. Else call the cable
company.

Check the cable connector ..it may need to be cut off and replaced. Also, you might check the cable input connector at the back of your used tv...that may also be loose and need replacement.

Go to best buy and buy a higher quality Monster coaxial cable (shielded) made to reject interference, hook your cable through a Monster power center, and you will reduce the "snow" and static caused by interference from other electronics.
