Thanks for all the answers. The boy loves it and practices everyday after school in the driving range. He told me that he would rather to be a golfer than a musian. To me I would rather to be a musican. I can't force him to do what I like and I think no matter what he chooses . The most important thing is passionate. So what I can do is to support him and encourage him and share his happiness.

Based upon your question, yes. Having played in both HS and College, it's possible for him to have the talent to become a professional. However, there is an exponential difference from fun, good, junior golf, to high school, to national competitive junior golf, to college ability to the pros. If and I truly mean IF he loves the game, now is the time for him to practice and get lessons from someone he enjoys and trusts. Don't worry about him becoming a pro yet, until he is beating everyone around most of the time. Truthfully there is a light years difference between shooting in middle 70's and a pro. It's also very tough to make three footers for a living and where your next meal is coming from. Good luck but let him enjoy the sport first. You have a lot of time in front of the both of you; don't push him so that he thinks it's work, yet.

76 is good, but it is not exceptional, no matter when the person started. Playing in high school and in tournaments is important because it teaches a golfer how to grind and to compete. However when you reach your late teens and early 20's is when you will begin to see where you stand physically and mentally. As an avid competitve golfer, I've known my share of players that I played junior golf with that are no better today then they were 10 years ago. They are still good players, but just never developed the physical attributes and mental edge to go to the next level. All the practice in the world will not help somebody that simply doesn't have the physical gifts to keep up with PGA caliber players. But who knows there are always exceptions.

It's possible but improbable. Once you get below 85, it becomes increasingly harder to lower your scores. You can no longer make little mental mistakes. It is possible for an 85 shooter to score 75 on a really good day but not on average.

If he actually did it an dnow shoots 76 all the time, he is gifted and should be encouraged in anyway possible.

Sounds like he has some natural talent. Best things to do would be to get a swing coach or head pro at the boy's local golf-course and have him play high school golf. Do a little research (I don't know where you live)... if your kid's local high school doesn't have a golf team, and he's serious about playing at a very-high level, consider going or transferring to another school in the area to play high-school golf. He's not going to learn much playing on his own... he needs some equal competition to see where he's at, and then if he really is good, start researching colleges with great golf programs and see if he can make it there.

Yes. Get a coach, play as much as possible, hit balls at the range. Play, play, play. That is very possible.
