Lumping all Christians into one group really isn't fair at all. There really is a silent majority of Christians out there, that have their faith and practice it. Some, many, don't even go to church. Many disagree with some of the doctrines of the particular group of Christians which they have aligned themselves.
One major US Christian church bases it's beliefs on three "legs" like the three legs of a stool: Scripture, Tradition AND Reason. People are encouraged to THINK, and encouraged to have their own opinions about most things, other than the basics. There are even creeds which are sometimes read for special occasions, and you are encouraged NOT to speak any part of said creed you do not believe in. However, even within the Episcopal Church, there are liberals and conservatives, so there is often rough water there as well.
PLEASE don't judge the religion by the actions of a few.

Your question presents an oversimplification and overgeneralization of the dissenters to your point of view. I have met a few open minded Christians who are very open to talk about their faith and their justifications for believing what they do. Which is fine, but when those who attack the minority opinion and don't let them speak, because they don't like it, then that is truely closemindedness. I have seen more cases of a Christian simply getting angry when their faith is put into question and simply just say "its right, cause God made me feel it's right." That is no justification for any sort of arguement, nor does it allow any sort of ration counter opinion. Its like trying to compare apples and unicorns. Superficial things cannot be justified with rational, logical reason.

this is why we say you are brainwashed because you go to this congregation once a week, and a leader aka pastor or priest tells you his interpretation of the Bible, and you take the words to heart.
Now as for close minded, your religion is very intolorant to those who are different, for example gays, pagans, atheists, and those who have premarital sex are suppose to be put to death in your Holy Book. Now since you can't burn them at the stake like you use to, you just distance yourself away and say that all others are of the devil or being decieved by the devil.
I hope this helps
Sincerely your high atheist

most christians are not closed-minded or brainwashed. just because somebody's perspective on the world is different, and you do not agree with it, and you cannot change their minds, does not make them brainwashed. it means they have a different opinion. how many atheists are willing to become christian? probably not many, and most would laugh at the idea. are they brainwashed? no. they just see the world differently and in a way that does not mesh with christianity. oh well. life goes on.

Not ALL Christians are closed minded and brainwashed. Quit generalizing.

You are not a Christian and it shows by your question. Too bad. For if you were you would know that a man or woman who has truly accepted Jesus Christ and repented of their sins is a new creation in Christ. Their minds are open not closed, their eyes are open not blind like those who refuse to see, their ears are open to hear and understand the Word of God.
You're not a Christian yet.><>

Some people tend to get offended if you dont agree with them and therefore they label that person "close minded" and so forth. Its total crap, you have the right to believe what you want to believe and to defend your stance.

Atheists by nature don't take any books to be holy and are open to reading all and acquiring knowledge. Christians try to find all answers in the Bible and when some discovery is made by the atheists try to find verses in the bible to prove it was in the bible already.
I leave it to you do decide who is closed minded!
