some of you can accept uncreated intelligent humans .. and an uncreated universe ... but can not accept an uncreated god ..

why ?

think there is a power in a very far galaxy .. we can not see it .. or feel it .. but this power is alive .. and he sent to us messengers to inform us about him ... then .. is it that kind hard to believe in him ...
is it that kind unacceptable to believe in him ... what if messengers were right ... and really there was a god who created us and the universe ... do you need a proof for all things .. do you need a DNA test to know that you are sons of that man and this woman ..
do not you believe in what your parents saying , unless they prove to you that they are your real father and mother ....

I've read your question three times and you're about as clear as concrete...

So are you saying that the alleged god is an alien from another galaxy?

With that, we're just trying to point out inconsistencies in reasoning. If someone can believe in an uncreated god, why shouldn't they be able to believe in an uncreated universe as a possibility even if it's not their choice philosophy? So for me, I'm not rejecting the possibility of an uncreated god. I'm saying that believing in such means that you should also be able to swallow the possibility of an uncreated universe.

Look, it's really quite simple. You say that "he sent to us messengers to inform us about him". Well, there are lots of other "messengers" who say they are transmitting messages to us that you refuse to believe. I choose to be skeptical about all such messengers, and try to base my beliefs on evidence and reason.

I'll grant you that the existence of this universe is pretty amazing. Some consider that sufficient evidence of a god. At moments I too wonder if it is sufficient evidence. But I never wonder if it is sufficent evidence fot the God of the Hebrew Bible. I just simply can't believe that a god powerful enough to create the universe would have the moral behavior of the God that "tested" Abraham and Job. Don't you see how those tests sound a lot like the the contemporary Greek Myths. And don't get me started about the laws of Leviticus that are downright immoral. Do you really want to worship a God that at one time required his "chosen people" to abide by those laws, even if he has since recanted? What kind of God would create laws that he has to recant?

I'm perfectly content with my disbelief of the God of the Bible. If there is a god, I bet she is much more compassionate than him.

Wow, are you missing the point.
It's not about what we prefer or don't prefer -- it's about what IS or IS NOT.
The universe isn't "dead" at all. It's continually changing, old stars die, new ones are born (all by natural processes with no need of divine intervention), new planets form, and almost certainly complex molecules combine to start primitive life and start the long evolutionary march towards complex, intelligent beings.

I'm sorry, you have no basis to say things like, "there really is a god who created us and the universe" -- there is no proof of that of any kind. And yes, I do require proof...otherwise I could believe in the Greek gods of Olympus, or Merlin the Magician, or any other made-up story, because with no proof they're all equally valid. Your god myth, without proof, is no more real than anyone else's, and there have been thousands.

I can point to the facts, observations, evidence, etc. that I rely on to understand the world and the universe, and anyone can examine them, duplicate them, test them for themselves. All you have to go on is "I say so" or "god says so in his book" -- as they say in a court trial: "Objection! Hearsay!" And so it is. Not admissible.

True, but there also needs to be evidence as to why Cain suddenly found a wife, and as to why Adam and Eve only had three sons at first. Cain was said to have a wife before Adam and Eve had any more children, so what gives?
Also, in the whole Ark thing, the dove brought Noah an olive to prove that the land was returning. Before that, however, God said he would wipe all living things from the Earth. So why is there suddenly an olive tree there? Trees can't grow to their full size and produce olives in forty days and forty nights. And if anyone has done biology, they know that trees are living organisms.

Such a typical question from a typical religious person.

You see though, you're the one claiming there is something up there, some god, not us. The burdon of proof lies on your shoulders, not ours.

Why don't you spend the rest of your life trying to prove there's a god, and meanwhile, without any proof, go tell everyone else how wrong they are because you are so single minded.

Oh wait, you probably already do that like all the other "christians" out there... shouldn't you be in your mob promoting hate against the gays and telling them how to live?

As to the parent analogy you so lamely tried to use...

You are being, again, typical. You say that everyone should just believe in what they are told and not question it. Do you realise just how idiotic that is? Let's just go through our lives and never think for ourselves and just believe what we're told.

How do I know my parents are really my parents? Do you know how many children are adopted and don't learn about it until later in life when they need to see their birth certificate?

I'm sorry man, but you need to go back to the "How to try and shove your religion down everyone elses throat" class, because, well, you really stink at it.

**EDIT**

Furthermore, as many have pointed out, most atheists don't seem to believe that the universe is dead. In fact, if I remember correctly, it is your religious types who claim that man and beast on earth are the only living things in the univers, again, typical righteousness displayed by so many of your kind. So many statistics point to the fact that is is impossible for there not to be any type of life anywhere else in the universe.

Man, your question just gets worse and worse every time I read it.

Oh, and simone, mind your own business... I'm not calling out for god, I don't want your silly god, and I'm not lost. You are. You are blindly following a fairy tale written over 2000 years ago. You take what you are told as truth and fail to question whether or not you are right. You simply assume you are. Don't tell me how I am lost.

Simple...we have evidence of "uncreated" humans and an "uncreated" universe...we just have no evidence of this god you speak of.

The proof of parentage arguement doesn't work. If one truly wanted to, they could have the tests done to prove who their parents are. Can't do that with that pesky god guy though...

It doesn't matter what I or you prefer. Things are not as you prefer. Things are as they are. And people's preferences won't change it. So, even if you prefer to believe in God, and I prefer not to believe, God either exists or he doesn't.

By the way, I don't need proof of everything. I need proof of everything in the name of which someone is trying to manipulate me. My parents are not trying to brainwash me with lies. And even if they turned out not to be my biological parents, they're the ones who've cared for me since I was a child. So, I don't give a damn who my real parents are. But if I will have to stop doing a half of everything I do, and I will have to spend Sunday mornings in church, then yes. You will have to give me more than just "Have faith".

This question is really quite silly. But I'm glad that you feel power in the universe that makes you feel safe and happy. What I don't get is that you have a problem with saying that we evolved and have a common ancestor with primates....but you have no problem believing we came from dirt.....that just kills me. Oh well, how bout if you believe what you want to and I'll believe what I want to.

IT's just the same argument.
If you can accept a god who is uncreated why does anything else have to be created.

The universe isn't dead to a scientific-minded person! It's alive and growing and changing!

I'm not an atheist, but the idea that God stopped working and creating 6,000 years ago after a week's burst of very hard work seems downright scandalous, and not very life-affirming, to me.
