My cat had an ear infection a couple weeks ago, so I took her to the vet and got medicine. It cleared up, but this week it reappeared, but now it's blood droplets coming out of her ear mixed with some wax, or gunk. Does anyone know what this could be??

p.s. She's 13 yr.

mm....it's probably the bacterial still in left from the ear infection. keep taking the medicine but also see if u can get some antibiotics to strengthen the immunity. or it might be some bugs that had bitten her ear and it starts bleeding..

however, if its an ear condition, i HIGHLY suggest you take her to the vet and tell the vet like what's going on. the vet will know more and give you the correct medicine

The medicine may have dried out her ear and she could have scratched it hard to make it bleed. It could be the debris from the infection. Call the Vet and see if kitty needs to be seen. They may tell you how to clean it out yourself. I have been doing my friend's pug today. One ear is fine but the other one is like a little fist to get into and clean. Good luck to you. So much of this can be handled at home.

Consult your vet. You don't have to go back unless he or she says that this is something worse. Having paid the vet for one visit, you are owed a telephone consultation and if it is the same problem you can get a second prescription.

My instinct says that it may be possible that the blood is due to the cat scratching its ears.

definitely an ear infection. Call your vet and he should gie you further instructions as far as medication unless he wants to see your cat again.
When my cat had an ear infection, the vet gave me some anti-biotic drops to apply to my cat's ears every 4 hours or so. Once it cleared up,

she probably needs to go back to the vet either the antibiotic wasnt strong enough or she wasnt on it long enough...the bleeding is definately a sign that the infection is still present take her back and they will either give you a stronger med. or put her on the same one for a longer period...good luck

could be ear mites. Call your vet, and ask first but I would just suggest cleaning them out with ear cleaner you can get it at Petsmart.
