Not true! - worked for me. I had stitches on my forehead and was very good about putting vitamin E on it. I broke the capsules and squeeze it on my scar from day 1. It's the best. I prefer the capsules to the bottled kind because it's thicker and stays better.

Vitamin E is most helpful when applied to the scar early. Don't believe everything that you read. Was the article sponsored by a company that wants you to buy something else?

Vitamin E in pill or capsule form is fat soluble (takes longer for the body to break down) so taking it this way and in large doses can be dangerous and cause you to overdose if you're not careful. I've heard of Vitamin E being used for hormone production, cancer prevention, and as an anti-oxidant (slows aging) so it's not completely worthless. As a cream though, it may be better at preventing scars. In my opinion Vitamin C is a better alternative because it's water soluble (easier for the body to break down) and is essential to form collagen (holds our cells together) and also helps to hold our bones, teeth, and blood vessels together.

Vitamin E is good for preventing scars. The only thing that gets rid of scars that are already formed is surgery.

If you are asking because you have a scar and want to minimize it, I would suggest using a product called mederma. I had a surgery to remove a tumor from my abdomen that left me with a scar that was about 11 inches in length, my surgeon recommended it. Looking at it now, you would never guess that I had a major surgery less than 3 years ago.

I haven't heard anything bad about vitamin E, I've used it myself, and it sure didn't do any damage. My sister likes to use coconut oil, it made a difference for her. That's what I'm trying next.

It is one of the best things for scars. it makes them softer so they can fade. I really dont think a vitamin that millions of people take everyday would be harmful to your skin.

It totally works! My best friend riped open her leg on some barbed wire at a farm and it really lessened the scaring! Totally works!
