Your high school resume should look just like a serious employment resume. The colleges want to know how hard you are willing to work at becoming a top notch student.

A resume should be ONE page. It is the content that must count. You sound like you are going for a journalism degree by writting a book!

I have one degree working on another, sit on five boards, do a ton of community work, have published articles, worked for my self and have multiple hobbies and can still list all of this on ONE page!

You need to put the conversation/communication portion of your resume on a COVER sheet (1st page), not on your resume(2nd page). If you must have a third page it should be a list of your personal references. END of resume!

They will not take the time to read your resume if it is longer than this. In fact it will most likely hit the trash and not the mark you desire.

Keep in mind they have THOUSANDS & Thousands of resumes to read. You need to be sharp and to the point with your information and hit them within the first few lines. Granted being well rounded is also important but keep it brief.

Finally, I would recommend that you purhase a good book on writting resumes and cover letters. These two books will never fail you. You will get years of good use from them and so will your friends who will be constantly borrowing them from you,

Good Luck!

When you submit a resume you are competing with other people that want the same seat or job that you do. The point of a resume is to communicate why they should select you in 15 seconds or less. The resume follows a fairly standard format and for a high school senior should only cover one side of one sheet of paper. Make sure it is concise (short), mistake free, and on high-quality paper. They will probably have two piles for resumes; pile one will contain resumes that they might accept and pile two those that will be rejected. Assume that anything wrong with your resume will result in it will being placed in pile two without further review!

Also, avoid redundancy, most of what an admissions officer will rate you on is already contained in your admissions application, transcripts, essays, and letters of recommendation.

This is too long...I'm a senior in college and been there done that. Admissions officers do not have time to go through all that information cut out work experience at the very least and try to get it to 2 pages at the most.

Probably, but you need to expand depending on the college(s) you are applying to. Higher colleges=longer resume.

Sounds way too long. Talk to your guidance counselor about what to do.
