Because they have forgotten that they are supposed to "Love their neighbor as they love themselves" and "Do unto others as they would do unto themselves".
It's very typical and I've noticed it for years. It seems outrageous that one of the most fundamental elements of religion is the one that is most often forgotten.

I do not know but they should not be. Jesus taught that we are not to judge others for he will do so on judgement day. I think sterotypes are dumb and cause nothing but problems. we are great in his eyes. It sounds as if your feelings have gotten hurt recently. Try and shug it off and just chaulk it up to the ignorance of the person who make assumptions about a person without knowing them. Keep you head held high kiddo!!!!

People are very passionate about their religious beliefs. Unfortunately, most of these beliefs do not allow for other beliefs and result in venom-filled stereotypes.
