No, love is not lost. Many people do not know how to love--and aren't even interested in learning--but there are those who do know how, and who do it.
People who are cut off from the power and grace of God tend to be self-centered and blind to those around them, attempting to utilize them only for their own purposes. Those within God's grace tend to see others clearly and do not attempt to get what they can take--but rather seek to know what they can give.
It is not surprising that many feel a lack of love in the world. This world is a battleground for human souls, and God's enemy holds many in his thrall, even if they don't know it.

Most of the world this day and time is lost, but not all of it. There's still good people out there.

I don't think that it's a necessary fact of humanity that we are supposed to love every one, or even if it's in our original nature at all. That said, I do think that everyone should do their own individual part to love their fellow people and help out in any way they can.

We have lost respect for ourselves and for one another. Our culture is all about me, what's in it for me, me, me me ... We are spoiled, lazy, rude, selfish and spiteful. When we don't get our way, we cry like babies and then go sue someone. Common sense, decency, morals and courtesy are leaving our culture like rats deserting a sinking ship. When did and where else does road rage exist? Kids used to respect their parents. Now they don't even know who their parents are. Men and women got married until death did they part. I'm waiting for the day when our marriage licenses will have expiration dates. Its a very sad place we are heading for. Very, very sad.

I believe that Jesus is perfect Love and the further our world gets from Jesus, the further we get from love, which is evidenced in all you describe above.
The lack of compassion and all the disdain everyone has for the other... It is all so very sad.

it's still there, but in a watered-down sense. we dehumanize anyone we do not know or understand (or want to know or want to understand).
you can still see it in certain people, who display compassion frequently.
