Should it have been a TKO, allow them to continue, DQ or go to the score cards? Abraham retained the belt in decision but all I saw was this controversial round. Check it out http://www.warriorsboxing.com/ What should be done now?

Arthur Abraham is a true warrior. His hart and determination are just incredible. To go 7 rounds with those kind of injuries and win a match against an opponent like Edison Miranda is something worth of only the greatest respect and admiration. Arthur, without question, proved him self as a true champion in this match and pound for pound one of the very best boxers in the world today (the best in my opinion).

And to address your question, I suppose that any number of things could have happened in that fifth round. Arthur got his jaw broken on two places and his bleeding was already very severe and the ring doctor could have by all means stopped the fight at this point. I have watched the whole match live, and from what I've seen, the referee decided that Miranda's headbutt, after which the fight was stopped, even though deliberate, didn't cause Arthur's injury (that turned out to be correct because, as Arthur him self said afterward it was caused by an uppercut few moments before) and decided not to disqualify him for it. So it was explained to Arthur that if the match did get stopped at this point it would be a TKO and he would loose the title. That's when he decided to press on and defend his belt no matter what and after truly a legendary effort managed to do that after 12 rounds.

And to answer the last and probably most important question, news currently are that the IBF decided to keep Miranda as the number one contender and the mandatory challenger for Arthur and they will definitely have a rematch sometime next year. The date is not yet set because Abraham had to undergo a surgery after the match to repair the broken jaw and will need some time to make a full recovery. But one thing is sure, boxing fans all over the world have another tremendous, spectacular match to look forward to and when it happens I think that Arthur will take it one more time and without a question prove him self once again as a true champion that he is.
