The stroke may have affected the part of his brain that regulates sleep. Consult his doctor he may be able to prescribe something to help. I would also make sure he is not in pain this may be causing him to be uncomfortable laying in one spot for to long which could also be helped with medication. Hope this helps some.

If you think about it, you shift positions naturally in your sleep about every 15 minutes. This doesn't mean rolling over necessarily, but subtle changes in the way the weight is distributed. This can depend on how severe the damage from the stroke was and how much he can move on his own. But I think there are a lot of other psychological reasons he isn't sleeping, too. He could be afraid or lonely, which is more likely. If your sister in law works all day and he doesn't see her, he will be more likely to call for her at night. I would seriously look into seeing if he would consent to staying in a rehab facility. Not only would there be other personell to turn him, he would be less likely to keep the sister in law up. If nothing else, see about hiring a home health aid to come stay the night and have them turn him.

perhaps your family needs to pay for someone to stay with him at night while your sister gets some sleep so she can continue working. Hospice can help with that.
There's probably a lot of fear going on, he's probably cognitively not doing well and so is afraid to be alone.
He also may be experiencing some kind of pain or hallucinations from the stroke or the medication which aggrivate him.
He's not doing this to be nasty , the poor man is ill.
Contact hospice to help out, that's why they are there.

i've got have been given a one month previous at domicile and for the 1st 2 weeks of his existence he did a similar element. Slept and slept and slept. I actually had to wake him up (which each and every so often took a million/2 an hour) to eat, and he could frequently fall lower back to sleep after purely a couple of minutes of nursing. ultimately in simple terms these days he immediately began waking up SCREAMING for the breast, and then does not fall lower back alseep for frequently hours. get excitement from her extreme drowsing mutually because it lasts... she's stocking up now so she will save you conscious for here few months!

How old is he? Does he have dementia? In other words, does he know where he is , the month and his name.
Why did he have a stroke. is there some other underlying health issues?

he probably knows he's sick and wants attention, or maybe he just can't get comfortable, there should be more people, to step up to the plate and help take care of him, so she won't have so much stress
