HIV is only likely to be transmitted from saliva if the person has bull blown AIDS in terminal stage. The HIV virus can only survive a few seconds outside the body - on a cigarette, for example - and the presence of the virus is extremely low in the saliva people who are HIV possitive who do not present AIDS yet. There are even cases of marriages where one of the partners is infected and the healthy partner is allowed, NOT discouraged, to kiss the infected partner. It is virtually impossible for your daughter to get the virus that way, even if she kissed one of the guys who's infected.

To catch AIDS, 3 things have to take place:
1) The person has HIV/AIDS to get it from
2) Blood or semen comes from that person
3) that gets into your blood system
AIDS is in the white blood cells. They are in all body fluids, but in saliva it is very small. If that is swallowed, gastric acids in the stomach would destroy the virus before it gets into your system.
The problem comes when the AIDS victim has blood inside the mouth. This can be from sores or even brushing too hard. It is more than saliva to deal with. It still needs to find a way into the blood system of the other person. Braces or hard brushing is the danger sign.
AIDS is a living virus that cannot live outside the body for too long 1 to 3 hours depending on the environment.
Hot Water, bleach and medical alcohol can clean it up. (Smash repair shops could use the engine Steam Cleaner if a car is brought in with blood in it). I do not believe a smoke is hot enough where the lips go to destroy the AIDS virus.

It is next to impossible to get the AIDS virus through saliva unless you are swallowing gallons of the saliva. I know this first hand because I have a friend that is infected and her husband kisses her everyday and he is not infected. Your daughter couldn't of got it this way. Besides, even it there was a possibility it might not do much good to test anyways since the HIV virus can remain dormant for 7 years. You should study up a little on the AIDS virus.

No you can't. The HIV virus cannot survive in the human stomach (what with all the acids!). A human being would need to swallow at least 10 gallons of an infected persons saliva in order to allow a 0.0000001 percent chance of contracting the virus. For all intents and purposes, it is impossible to contractthe virus through the exchange of saliva. What you may need to be more concerned about is your daughter smoking pot, losing her inhibitions, and then screwing someone with the virus! She stands an extremely higher risk of contracting the virus this way.

All of the answers above are on the right track, but infact you would bothkparties would have to have some kind of cut in their mouths for the virus to enter the body. If your worried that this might be the case, your daughter needs to go to your local medical centre or hospital and tell them she may have come into contact with HIV. They will prescribe a strong course of anti-biotics, and test for the virus.
The chances of contacting HIV in this way are extremely low.

I have read on HIV and from my understanding. The only way for one to get it. Is if it is thru blood or sperm. If they have a cut or sore that is open. Then it might be possible to get the HIV virus. I would take her to the Clinic. Most Public Health Clinics do this test for free. So if you are un sure I would say for even just a piece of mind to take her in. But this is the only way I know for one to get it. Hope this helps you some.

no, HIV cannot be contaminated thru saliva. it can be contaminated through body fluids during intercourse, through blood but not saliva. it is a fact that HIV cannot be passed from person to person via a hug or saliva since that is not how the virus works. i took microbiology as a class and have studied about it and you do not have anything to worry about, especially your daughter getting HIV!
