There is something wrong with those movies...It takes brutality to a whole new level. What do you think this says about our society?

(A new one is being released on Holloween)

i think that they are sick, but not Satanic. but then again one of the rules of satanism says that you cannot violate the free will of another, and murder definatly violates their free will.

i do agree that it is a sad state of society when this type of movie goes to 3 sequels.

Yeah Im not sure how I feel about all the gore. I don't have a problem with it in something like a war movie where it has a point, but this just seems to be gory for the sake of being gory sometimes. A regular horror movie is fine, but sometimes it seems like they take it to the next level. It can actually get pretty gross and I look away at times. Maybe it says something about our culture. Maybe it says that we are obsessed with seeing the taboo and that we keep pushing the enevelope or maybe it just doesnt mean anything at all.

Ive only seen the first movie, but the plot line itself was quite good. Its a good murder mystery type movie, just perhaps a bit too gory for its own sake.

Well, aside from SAW.

What about:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Wrong Turn
Halloween (not Holloween)
Friday the 13th
Nightmare on Elm Street
See No Evil
Hellraiser
Jeepers Creepers

Well defnitely they are slasher movies. They personally don't affect me since I know that isn't reality. But you have a point, such gore and violence is somewhat borderline. However, since you or I or anyone else can't stop a movie from being shown, we do have the right to choose NOT to watch such films if it violates our sense of values.

Peace.

Perverse and disgusting, yes. Satanic? Nope. Why would anyone need help from a mythical being to make a terrible movie? Humans have been thinking of violent ways to shock and revile for thousands of years - long before the bible was ever written.

I found them boring. They try to be as disgusting as possible to avoid using plot devices. Think about it Hostel was the same way. Teenagers love em though so they make a lot of money which is why they keep making em.

Japanese filmmakers have been doing this for years. Nothing new. JUst new to us.

I haven't seen I or II, and won't see III most likely, but not for religious reasons. Horror has to be either horror/comedy (shawn of the dead, etc.) or more of a mind game than just gruesomeness (6th sense) before I'll take an interest. The hack and slash crap has no appeal to me.

Perverse, yes.
Satanic, no.
Brutal, OH YEAH.
Personally, even though I find the movies disturbing, I still like them.

Well, my thought is this, If it is not of the Lord (Jesus) then who is it of?

I will go out on a limb (knowing that others will slam me) and say that, yes, I believe these sort of films are encouraged by "dark forces" seeking to draw people further and further away from their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Then again, what satan means for evil, God can use for good. Perhaps the more people get the bajeebers scared out of them, then they might just cry out to their Abba Father after all?!!?!

Nothing Satanic about these movies.

The reason that it is so popular is hollywoods obession with sex and violence, not good for society, but do we really need to blame an entity for our own actions?

I don't think they are Satanic. I have only seen the first one, and while it's a scary movie that messes with you psychologically, I don't remember one reference to Satan or Devil-worship in that movie.
