you have some really interesting ideas with what you create. i think the problem is the cliche, stale, over-used images in your art. the swirls are just over-played forms that are just not working in this work. now, on the other hand, the green dots and smears are really interesting. i like where you are going with that.

i am thinking, over-all that this work is too busy and actually is sort of resembling tie-dye. i would rather see this work without so much going on.

i think the key here is to be more original. surprisingly, i think that comes from studying more artwork. the more you learn about artists, styles, and art movements, the more you will learn about the art you want to create and do create. i think when the guy commented about your other painting and called it naive, that is what he meant-- that you are young and don't know a lot about painting. if that statement is true, there is nothing wrong with that, but just try to change that. we are all naive when we are young.

constructive criticism is great. it hurts at first when you aren't used to it, but after a while you learn to want it. it has helped me greatly in my life. sometimes people use it in a mean way, and that is annoying.

good luck and keep learning & getting better!!!

I know a bit about art from an expressive therapist's POV and I know what I like... I don't know if you are studying to become a better artist or you are taking a course for credits so an instructor's opinion might be an issue... I personally don't see any blatant omissions... my eyes were completely content with what your work offered... your work is not wired or angry... I found depth and layers... I can't venture to guess why you chose the title subliminal but that's not for me to judge... if you paint for content, constructive criticism might help you gain technique but if you paint for your soul, then the process is more the focus

My young friend, sometimes art teachers do more harm than good. What I mean by this is that they might let their own personal taste in art influence what they think of other people's art.

I like this painting as is and the name 'Subliminal' suits it well. If you added more contrast or harsh, overly well-defined lines, it would no longer have it's subliminal effect.

What is missing is a MEANING, dear. What are U trying to express with this painting? What are your feelings? Are these shapes and colors the right ones to express yourself?

A personal point of view.

i would rethink your use of the word subliminal, what does it mean think to yourself. It seems like a busy abstraction of something very unsubliminal
