Depends on how you do it. Being nice in a condescending, self-satisfied way is actually not being nice. It's just a thinly veiled technique of angering people.
And if the Bible says that doing so is like pouring hot coals on their head, why would you do it? By continuing to be nice, you're knowingly causing them pain. You don't have to be rude or anything; just leave them alone. If they're to the point of insulting you, they're not going to listen to anything you say, maybe even if they already believe it.

You are not responding according to their expectations. This confuses them and that will anger them more.
Try this one sometime: When another driver flips you off or screams at you make sure you have eye contact and then blow him a kiss. Guaranteed to make veins pop in his forehead.

its called "killing with kindness"
it means that you kill the bad attitudes with your kindness
when people are really mean to someone and then the other person is so nice to them, this will make the mean person feel like a chump for being so mean.
