Is trying to convince them that they're sinning and getting them back on to God's side really more nasty than just flat out killing them?

Take care of what you are saying. Most gays are getting married and even if it's banned in most Christian churches, they are mostly christian I see serving in the masses and assisting on relief efforts sponsored by the Christian Churches.
May I also remind you that KKK"S front is the hatred of the Jews and Negroes. KKK actions against Jews aren't purely because they killed Jesus (that's their lame excuse) they just hate all people that do not belong to their race.

You sure about that? In case you weren't aware the KKK violently attacked people they disliked. I would rather have a a Christian tell me I'm going to hell than being beaten by the KKK anyday.

I'll say because the KKK are extreme fundamentalist christians, whereas the gays are more open minded. And the last thing the christians want are free thinkers roaming around out there....

I don't know why most of them do. Perhaps fear of what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah. But one thing I know for sure is that God teaches Love not hate. Jesus Loved even the sinners. He broke bread with tax collectors and prostitutes. Jesus said it is the sick who need a Doctor not the healthy. He also said that he is without sin cast the first stone, and also to remove the splinter from your neigh boors eye you must first remove the plank in your own. I have thought about it, being a devout christian mother, what would I do if one of my children choose that lifestyle. After a lot of thought I decided that I would except them into my home, my loving arms just as I had always done. I would tell them once that I disapproved and show them in the bible where it says that there behavior is a sin and then drop it after that. I think that is what Jesus would do. Love them and wait for them to come to you. Oh and I would continuously pray for them....For I am not without sin either. Just not that one.

Well I guess the answers so far speak for themselves.
I agree that some of this is being propagated by homophobic preachers. All I can say, if your preacher is preaching hate or intolerance, he’s not following the teachings of Christ. Christ never taught intolerance. Christ never even mentioned the topic of homosexuality.
Also, if your church is so intolerant that it can only accept perfect Christians to worship, that is a very sad statement indeed.
What if AA said we don’t want to deal with those awful drunks, but if they get cleaned up and turn their lives around then they can come to our meetings? Is that how your church looks as those who may be just starting out on their walk with Christ? Unless they look like you and act like you and think like you, you don’t want them around? Do you really think that attitude would please Christ?
When Christ told us to love our neighbors, he meant ALL our neighbors, not just the ones that think and act like us.
Why do homophobes always bring up Sodom and Gomorrah? Do they really think all gay people are out there living one never- ending orgy? And what about promiscuous straight people? Is that ok? Are the sex acts only bad when they are between two people of the same sex? May I remind you that there really isn’t anything that two men can do together than a man and a woman couldn’t do. Same goes for two women. So you think it’s just wrong if it’s gay? Straight people can get out there and do whatever they want with their bodies and they are beyond reproach? Is that what you homophobic preachers believe?
Folks, we are living in a world with a lot of problems, too many problems. As Christians we can either try to make this a better place by reaching out to everybody with love, or we can contribute to the hatred and strife by propagating hatred in our own lives and in our churches.
I beg you to think about this. Which behavior would please Christ? Please go back and read one of the four Gospels. Look at the ways Christ spent his time while he walked among us. Doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know about how he wants us to treat our fellow man?

Why do people make false assumptions about general populations? I know NO christians who are nasty to homos. I just refuse to call them 'gay'. I will not sacrifice a perfectly good word just so they can be comfortable in their sin. Why should they be comfortable? I am uncomfortable with my own [different but equal] sins. And theirs are no different. The only difference is that they embrace their sins. I can't do that.

They are easy targets I suppose... I really have no idea what homosexuals have become a target for anyone really, except for that there are Christian leaders who are repressed gays and are trying to cover it up by hating what they are.
Someone wise once said, "The things you hate in others are really the thinks you hate in yourself"... or something like that, but either way, I think it is true.
