I'm not sure about eyesight but it has been proven to damage a persons health

There have been numerous studies of allergies and/or sensitivities to MSG, attributed to the free glutamic acid component, which has been blamed for causing a wide variety of physical symptoms such as migraines, nausea, digestive upsets, drowsiness, heart palpitations, hair loss, asthma, anaphylactic shock, rapidly increasing diabetes, and many other complaints. "Chinese restaurant syndrome" is often used as an example of the symptoms purported to be caused by MSG.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the levels of glutamate in hydrolyzed proteins causes adverse effects; ie. that manufactured glutamate has effects different from glutamate normally found in foods.

Yes. A cupful of MSG can even kill a dog. MSG is not a normal product in the body so when you take it, the body cannot usually break it down so even in small amounts it builds up in your body bit by bit poisoning some of your systems. Some people who have taken MSG for a long time, well a lot of them have been deaf or blind. That is why MSG has been banned in most food establishments as it is harmful to the costumers though some still use it though.

The only link I know between MSG and eyesight is that if I eat MSG, I get migraine headaches. When I get migraine headaches, I loose the vision in my left eye, even tho my eye is physically ok.
The migraines are horrible, also.
Always check the ingredients for MSG, and ask that your local Asian restaurant leave it out when they cook for you.

MSG (which enhances and brings out flavour in foods and cooking) is bad for your health. (... as for anything else that seems to be soooo nice in life... hehe) Its damages affect the heart, bloodstream and nervous systems. I don't know about the eye sight but to be honest I would not be surprised. I guess it's like what they say; anything in moderation is alright. Just don't use too much.

P.S. Being Asian, I consume ALOT of MSG... and after years of it now, my heart gets stabbing pains and my lungs feel tight after eating Chinese take out... ouch. ): But still I love it...

too much MSG can give you (or at least me) a stomach ache, but that is as harmful as I know it to be.
