My father-in-law was retired and had nothing else to do so he cruised the lots for what he thought were good deals. Traded every six months or so to see if he liked one car over another. No kidding, in 4 years he had 11 different cars and trucks. Strange part, never kept on long enough to really get to know it. Was always here to get the clock set, radio tuned, dome lights off, etc.

I know a girl and a guy like that. The girl I don't know how she does it. I think daddy helps. She changes cars more than she changes tampons. She does it because she always has to have better than everybody else.
The guy buys a new Dodge Cummins every November before his registration expires. He does it because he can afford it for one and for two he uses them to the max. He pulls trailers all the time and drive them out to the oil rigs on nasty rough roads. So he just trades them in on newer ones before the one he has starts having problems. So I guess different people do it for different reasons. Well good luck. I hope this helped. Oh and buy the way I always lose money too.

People want to feel wealthy. Wealth comes in the form of ego for many. Trading often is foolish. Buy a car and keep it through the warranty. When the warranty is about to expire, then go ahead and trade if you really need a new car.

some people like to be in the spotlight and hate being second best at anything, so they find ways that they can do this. One way is by changing cars so often before it becomes not so interesting. Another reason is that they change it before it loses value so they don't lose too much before they get rid of it. Its also a good practice if you can afford it to get rid of the vehicle as soon as possible so as not to have any expense in service or repairs.

Some people are just never happy with what they have.
Sometimes people can find "screaming deals" by buying fairly new cars that have been officially scrapped (wrecked/totalled), put work into them and then resell them. You really have to check the title histories on some of those!
