So this lady at my work feels like she's getting a urinary tract infection (you know the sore lower back, bloating/pain, and pain when urinating) so this other lady there who knows about all this home remedy stuff told her to put salt in her belly button.... what the heck? That is so rediculous to me, I didn't even know what to say. Has ANYONE heard of this and/or honestly think it works??

I actually HAVE hear of this. This is one of those strange remedies that Grandmothers in the Hispanic community claim actually work but it is not necessarily proven. For something as serious as a UTI I would not use house remedies though. I would go to a doctor and get antibiotics. Especially if the UTI is accompanied by nausea or sharp pain when urinating. Don't waste time trying to figure out what crazy remedies will work just go see a Doctor and get it treated.

Sounds strange to me. I have never heard of anything like that but I have heard of stranger things like someone once told me that if a bee stings u that u shold pee in the dirt on the ground mix it up and spead it on the spot u were stung. Go figure some people have strange cures for things.

Well I came across this add and I honestly can tell you that I was told to do the salt in belly button and it actually helped with the urge to go to the bathroom and the burning sensation.. Not saying it will cure it but can vouch and say it helped with the burning feeling and urge to go to the bathroom.. Still going to see my doctor anyhow ..

No I usually only have lint in my belly button. Try a Doctor! for a UTI test.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've heard. There is no reason or logic as to why this would work.
The other lady at your office is crazy.

i doubt that that has any relevance to anything considering your belly button is a closed tube leading nowhere unless you have an absess, which in that case you would not want to be putting salt in there.
