this weed lookes like a mini palm tree leaf. it's spiny and will close when it is touched. filipinos call it "shy" in tagalog. others say it's amor seco, but is saw a picture and it doesn't look familiar. others say it's touchme nots. i do not think thats it either. others say its a weed, which is probably true.

Mimosa!
Mimosa is the genus. The most well known species is probably Mimosa pudica.
The one I saw has a pink round flower too.

We got that weed around our city in Cairns Australia we just call it sensitive weed. It has thorns that stick in your foot or hands if they get too big.

I saw one once that was called a prayer plant that sounds like what you described.
