Quran 4:34 "(As to those MUSLIMAH’S) on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and BEAT THEM;" http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/004.qmt.html

Ok, try to follow the problem. Now, of course, most rational people read this an immediately dismiss the possiblity God could have wrote it, but lets suppose your stupid, and stil entertain the possiblity.

Heres the problem, according to the aya, a man is to beat his woman if he feels she might dessert him. It doesnt say "you may beat her if you chose", so a pious Muslim has no chose but to take this as a literal command to beat her upon his slightest fear of dessertion.

Now, if this man is not insecure, no problem, but almost every single muslim man is. Heres the problem...the moment you beat a woman, even a muslimah, you are left with what feeling? An EVEN GREATER FEELING THAT SHE WILL LEAVE YOU!!! So, what does this trigger? ANOTHER BEATING!!!

Where does it stop then?

Mate, these people will deny it no matter how much evidence you provide. Even the muslim women will find excuses to justify such verses. They can't apostate until they come to the west. Western laws guarantee them a freedom of religion, so not just them all of us get involved in the vicious cycle. Islam is a political ideology not a religion coz it dictates every aspect of a person's life. They'll ask the mullah how to wipe their a$$ in an islamically approved way so it does not anger Allah. It's really annoying coz we are not left with much choice but a war due to their beliefs even if we want to respect all life. Secularism and freedom of religion should not include Islam. A religion should be classified so on it's spiritual value. We cannot allow freedom of religion if their religion asks them to murder us and our loved ones to spread their religion.

Yep. More often though I write scenes from the various characters' POV (my book is written in the third person) before writing the actual scenes. I use character interviews, etc on here which sometimes put them into pretty insane and/or unusual (for my story's 'world', anyway) situations. The character interviews on here are good, because I have not picked the questions. Because of this, if there is a question I don't know how to answer as them, I realize I've missed something. Asking my own questions doesn't have quite the same effect, as if I create the question I generally already know the character's answer. BQ: How is your novel coming along? Good, thanks. BQ2: Who is your favorite character in your novel and why?:) I like them all for different reasons. BQ3: Are you going to eat your soybean pudding? Can I have it? I don't like soybean pudding, so sure...

SUPERIORITY thing AGAIN!

4:34 Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.

you do not have any knowledge,

The Full tranlation is "beat lightly" and as a last resort.
Pat your hand lightly, that's what its talking about.

Did a Muslim women dump you or something, if you believe Islam is wrong just leave it alone, why are you still studying it?

BEAT LIGHTLY????

LOL!!!! That makes even less sense...if the beating doesnt hurt, then it has no value at all, good or bad! No one who is love-tapped will be detered from anything, more likely, the opposite!

So in essence, this idiots above are arguing for an absolute non-sensical interpretation of the verse!

Which is better, that the verse have a harsh meaning or no meaning at all!!!

YOU HYPOCRITICAL, BIGOTED PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING!

Muslims have had enough of your distasteful attempts to malign our faith, our culture and traditions. You persist on taking our Qur'an and it's holy writings out of context to suit your perverted view of Islam and to incite hatred and bigotry against a majority of Muslims who have not done anything to you directly.

You're religious beliefs (whatever they are) are not so perfect as well for your pioneers and forefathers built your faith on the blood of Jews, Muslims, Blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans eversince they set forth to conquer the world.

I'm going to formally ask Yahoo to permanently terminate your access to this site.

I think you have misinterpreted this verse!

'Beat' in this context does not mean physical abuse. The Prophet (pbuh) once said that it should only feel as if someone is lightly hitting you with a toothbrush.

And even then it is to be used as the LAST RESORT (when she makes a mistake the first time he is to verbally warn her, second time? not share a bed with her) . The role of a man in his family is as a protector, educator and leader. Therefore when he thinks his wife has done a mistake he is allowed to advise her in correcting her ways.

OK two points here
1- beating was described by the prophet (sas) to be very lightly.
2- beating as described in verse is the LAST solution after admonishion then refuse to share their beds lastly beat them.
