Two months ago after taking my dog to the groomer I was told that my dog was infested with ticks. Since my dog is strictly indoors (except for when she goes to the yard when mother nature calls) My dog was raised in my home office and to much of my dismay I started to find the ticks walking everywhere from the walls to the book shelves. (specifically in this room)
I have called a professional exterminator who has come twice to do my entire house in a 15 day period however, I have not been able to get rid fo the ticks. I did not allowed my dog to return to the specific room that has been the heart of the problem. I have ceramic floors throughout the house but I realized that the ticks most be hiding in my file cabinets etc. The exterminator is coming back this week for the third time but I really don't think the treatment is working,. My dog does not have the ticks anymore and I don't know what else to do. The small yard has been treated too. Any suggestion?

Did you know Ticks can live up to 3 years without a feed of blood?
You need to do a major clean up like removing everything, leave no stone unturned, Use a lime dust all over your garden and also around the bed of your dog. Lime kills Ticks quickly but if you miss 2 Ticks (1 male 1 female) the problem will continue, after a short while, you got some work ahead of you to completely get these pests out of your home/office.

Oh, you poor woman. I'm so sorry. I know I'm not going to be of any help to you because I don't know a remedy for for your tick problem.

However, you might want to call the vet and see if your vet knows what might kill them. Then find out what the exterminator is using. If, after the third treatment, you still have ticks, you should file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and find another exterminating company.

I know this isn't going to cure your tick problem, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap getting an exterminator, so maybe you can recoup
what you paid the exterminator if you file a complaint with the BBB stating you want your money refunded.

Good luck. I hope that soon your house will be tick free.

Hi there,
After reading about your situation, I sympathize with you. However, my problem is fleas. You do not mention where you live, but there must be woodlands nearby. I am in East TN, and have woods close to my house. This year has been bad for all those types of pests. Unfortunately, I have no answer for you. But, if a pro exterminator has not eradicated the offender, you may need to look into another pest company. I would not pay them for a third try.

Are you sure they are ticks? Capture one and carry it down, in a zippy bag, to your nearest Agricultural Extension office for proper identification. Good luck!

You need to fog the house. We moved into a older home a year ago and it had fleas REALLY bad. You need to do it when you and the animal are gonna be gone for a few days or avoid that room until they are gone. We had to keep using the fog spray every time that we came over. There was nothing or anyone in the house so it starved them out too. You can get it at Wal-Mart or a co-op. Good luck I know how you feel.

maybe try to find a tick and flea bomb. Maybe you need to call an exterminator for inside your house.

I don't know how to get rid of them past lighting a match but beware that ticks carry lyme disease. Lyme is incurable. I hope you find a answer to help so you don't catch this disease.
