It would be like the united states was fifty years ago, only now the dime is worth what the penny use to be worth, and the dollar is the new dime.
As for less publicity for God, who reads "In God we trust" when using pennies? I'm more worried about the copper industry.
P.S. I think inflation has gone up ten fold in the last fifth or sixty years, but I'm not sure. Perhaps I'll ask that question on Yahoo!

We keep making them because it would embarrass the government to have to admit that our currency is becoming devalued. No politician wants to be the one to be associated with this concept so nobody steps forward to eliminate pennies. Actually, a dime today is worth what a penny was some time in the 40's/50's. So really, we ought to eliminate nickles and quarters too. All we really need are dimes and half dollars to return to denominations equal in value to that decade.

Many countries have survived without a penny for a long time, there wouldn't be any problem there....as for god, he doesn't need publicity, you can't go anywhere or do anything without hearing something about god and especially on tv.

Then people's math skills will be worst than they already are.
I have an educational game called "Money, Money" by Discovery Toys. I played it with my daughter when her "money skills" were poor in school. I saw before my eyes, how her math got so good! She scores 95% on state tests. It seemed to happen overnight. I was convinced that day that math skills will go way down if they get rid of the penny.
So...I can see the 'humor' in your question....but where else can I express my opinion on the penny topic?

people hardly regard the penny anyway. So I don't think it would affect God's publicity. The only thing I see is future problems for those that need change that is under a nickel ^_^.

The religious implications of abandoning pennies are tenuous at best, but the society would survive. In Saudi Arabia, the smallest coin in circulation is 5 halalas (worth 1.3 cents), but grocery prices are specified to the halala, so typically you can't pay your grocery tab exactly. The store figures it to the nearest 5 halalas and everybody is happy.

No offense or anything, but I think that is a HILARIOUS question.
I don't think it would be "less pubicity" for God..because they're churches all over the place.
But the U.S. wouldn't stop making the U.S. penny, so don't worry about it. =)

Less publicity for God? I doubt that, but my penny jar would sure look empty. :)

Who cares about the penny? Other countries have dropped their low value coins before, and their economy survived.
