How can you repair a relationship with a parent who barely even recognize you exist?

Just live your life and see if they decide to call you if they haven't heard from you in awhile. Sometimes it's better just to let some time go by.

Sometimes we get parents that are not regular folks. I don't know how old you are, but at any age, we can make the first attempt to talk about simple everyday things. This may ease the pressure of communication. It may not be comfortable to launch into heart-rending discussions for either of you. If these small steps go unrecognized, you may have to let time go by and try again. Or... they may not be the type of person to value this special relationship. People cannot be something they are not and that's sometimes difficult to accept. Bless your efforts and caring in this situation.

Leave a note about how you feel and give it to them or put it in a place that you know were they will get it. Thats the first start b/c you can't repair a relationship if both parties don't want to fix it.

continue to be your kind self and know that this parent is wrong and you do not deserve to be treated this way....if your parent wants to fix this relationship they would try to get along and be kind to you [when i was younger my mother treated me badly.] and i stayed away from her as much as i could] even though i lived in the home until 18, then i moved out and once i moved out, when she started her stuff with me i left and it made me feel better....that was the way i handled it [when i was under 18 i just kept my feelings to myself and avoided her stuff as well as i could[ and could not wait until 18 came............hold on and know it is not your fault and try to be strong.....if you want to talk to someone, i will be happy to listen to you [my name is sandy and i am old enough to be your great grand mom, so email me at
