no problem with interactions with either of those meds. Busbar is a non-addictive med for anxiety and Prosac is the 1st anti-depressant in the SSRI class. There is some literature that Prosac can life limited effects (it wears off after a few years) unlike some of the newer ones (paxil)
Seroquil is a Major tranquilizer than has long acting effects of slowing things down and deceasing anxiety plus ativan or xanax are very short term (acddictive) anti-anxiety medications also used for sleep. You need to see a therapist to talk things over. Your meds seem ok.

If you have been severely depressed for only 2 months, I am wondering why you are on so many different meds. If she is not a psychiatrist or a nurse practitioner, she should NOT be prescribing these drugs.

To try to answer your questions: I have taken Prozac in the past. I am currently taking Busphar ( mood leveler), Lexipro (antidepressant- SSRI type), Wellbutrin ( another antidepressant that works on other nerve enhancers), and Lamictal (helps w/depression, not sure what else it does.) My diagnosis is also deep depression with moderately high anxiety disorder.
This combination works reasonably well. None of these are habit forming, and I experience no bothersome side effects.

Seroquel and Xanax are both very habit forming and can lead to addiction. I refuse to use them as I have issues around addiction & alcoholism (clean & sober 13 years) I do not know what alpazolam is.

A final note. NEVER use alcohol with any of these types of drugs as it will exagerrate side effects & could lead to severe illness or death.
I wish you well, I am NOT a mental health professional, just a semi educated patient, so it is a very good idea to check out what I say with someone who knows. If I have questions concerning a drug, I always ask my pharmecist: No body knows about drugs than more than they do.

Prozac (fluoxetine) is a SSRI antidepressant which also helps with OCD and to a much lesser extent anxiety. I consider it to be one of the best SSRIs because it has fewer side effects. For example, Zoloft seems to give some patients nausea.

Buspar is a joke. It's marketed as a non-addictive anxiolytic. True enough, it is not addictive. But it does absolutely nothing to treat anxiety.

Xanax (alprazolam) is quite good to take before going to bed. It makes you sleep well. There are other meds which you may take if you have problems sleeping. Ask your doctor about Soma (carisoprodol).

What is fluoxetine?

Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) antidepressant. Fluoxetine affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression, panic, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive symptoms.
Fluoxetine is used to treat major depressive disorder, bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder) obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
Fluoxetine is sometimes used together with another medication called olanzapine (Zyprexa). to treat depression caused by bipolar disorder (manic depression). This combination is also used to treat depression after at least 2 other medications have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.
Fluoxetine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

I take alpazolam for sleep. I have sleep apnea and I am suppose to use a sleeping machine, but my wife gets madder than you know what when I use it, because she is afraid water is going to get on the carpet. I wake up several times during a night, but I fall right back to sleep, and I snore alot. I have a sleep apnea appointment in December to talk to a specialist. I am waiting to see what he/she says. Good luck with your depression because it is not an easy thing to go through. Been there, done that, and still there. Email me anytime about sleep, I will tell you my bad experience. I wish you the best of luck in the world.

I have been on prozac for almost fifteen years. It's been working for me. I also take depakote because I am bipolar as well as major depressive.
