Slayer's new album, Christ Illusion was recently banned in India at the behest of the general secretary of the Mumbai-based Catholic Secular Forum (CSF)

The album's cover art depicts "Christ with a missing eye and amputated arms." He added, "we also condemn the track, 'Skeleton Christ' as the lyrics are an insult to Christianity."

The CSF also sent a memorandum to Mumbai's police commissioner, adding that the album "will affect the sensibilities of the Muslims on the track 'Jihad' and secular Indians who have respect for all faiths."

The CSF also protested against the Indian release of "The Da Vinci Code". This led the Censor Board to instruct Mumbai-based Sony Pictures in India to include a notice to accompany the film to explain that it was a work of fiction.

Notice how there were no violent protests, or riots, or arson?

Notice how no one was killed, assaulted, or threatened with violence?

Is this a good example of how peaceful diplomacy can be effective?

Ah, a thumbs down...

Oh well. I thought I was making a constructive arguement to demonstrate how people can use peaceful democratic lines of communication to achieve their desires. Sorry if I offended the person who thinks this is a bad question =/

no one was killed, assaulted, or threatened with violence! Yes, because the indian government respected their feelings and responded appropriately. If the Danish (or whoever insulted Islam) reacted the same there would be no problems. Why no one is crying for (freedom of expression) in India? They know that freedom should be limited when it turns into insulting people believes..

The Indians are faith full to their past masters , the Muslims and the christians . you can do anything to the Hinuds and the governmetn there won't mind it , they might even reward you for that . prticularly in Tamil nadu the Gevernment is run by a party which is proud to e an atheist and reformiosts . But they would take serious action aginst any one who dose anything offending the christians and Muslims .But in hte case of the Hindus , the government itself would do everything to force them to convert to either chritiuanity or Islam. they are controilling th ehnud temples and appointing atheists as trustees of the hindu temples . they may hav a secret agreement to handover the hindu temples to the Christian churches and for building mosques on the temple structures. In Inida the churches and the mosques do not have to convert anybody . The state Gobvernments and cetral Goernment themselves are granting subsidies to the Muslims to go to mecca at state cost and th etax payers of other communities , particularly the hinuds are not treatd as equal to the Muslims and Chritianity . The coutntry is being still rtuled by foreigners with he assis tance of some unpartriotic locals as during th ebritishe regime .the Indians are still not free in India . they are enslaved to the Chritians and the Muslims by the political parties of the day.
the Indian governemtnwil l tke stern action against any one who will screen Da vinci ode in India . You can screen it ain any country in the west which claim to christian countries . since India is secular for the hindus and theocratic for the Muslims and Christians ( Just like the Democaratic - socialistic - communistic - monarchical- dictatorial -republic . The policy is unparallaled in the universe . If you want to riule over the country , you can do it .Do not bother about your citizenship or nativeity . Just meet their requirements .In the entire world , it is the place whre you can do anything with the blessings of the polticians . Any politian is ok . he need not necessarily be a ruling party man. now it is ajoint stock company and every politicianhas a quota for every thing .

Yes, but that is originally how the Cartoon situation started out, but the government wasn't respectful and civil like India's morals on handling situations dealing with people's faith. The Danish govenment and the Pope, as well as Muslims who violently protested can learn a lot from India's govenment.

no Martin Luther King Jr. was a good example of peaceful diplomacy.

These people just want to censor anything that goes against the way they think, to deny the public access to other knowledge: much like the other radicals.
