Make it a game use candy, crackers, things that the children are interested in. Take th children to the store or play store with the children to teach adding and subtraction even multiplication and subtraction can be tough. You can even cook with the children you need math (numbers) To measure the ingredients together

Hail Raffy, falling through the cracks. Applying mathematics on children rather than to upset them with an abstract form of reasoning other than sense and emotion...... Are you Demon city by chance.... In that case it's double as damaging for the money Bill spent.......

You may use wood sticks, apples, your fingers, etc. and tell them you have one, two, three, etc. of the items.
Write the numbers on the board and ask them to copy them.
Start with 1-5, then 1-10, etc.
Ask students to repeat after you the number said.
You can trace -dashed lines- the numbers in a paper and indicate with arrows the direction to follow.
Ask them to write the numbers several times.

When my son was very young we use to learn counting by looking at peoples letter boxes when out walking. It also visualized the number he was learning by looking at it on the letter box. We made a game of it by seeing which street had the most houses on it, by counting them.

Charts with pictures of food and the number displayed for visual reference. eg. 1 bean, 2 oranges, 3 cookiees, 4 banana's etc.

In early childhood, its' best to teach through games, songs, rhymes and with a visual to look at to associate the number with the what they are counting etc.

I usually teach my student mathematics with food. Have them help you prepare for food and ask them how many "Certain food" do you need? or how many forks are there? and if they ate one food how many food are left? It's the easiest way to teach a child and it helps a child to understand and remember how to do math.

Most kids like junk, show them in COUNTING MONEY how to get things. You can teach lots of addition and subtracting, especailly if you start slow, like with pennies, then build up.

Candy.

If they add and subtract and multiply the candies properly, they get to eat them.

E.G.
If you have 5 candies, and someone tells you to put them in a 'magic box' and they'll multiply times 3, how many candies will you get when you open the magic box?

Yummy learning!
