the store obviously has a storage problem. The Australian wines are right in the front window. It's a government store too, so complaining to the managment won't help. I know I can shop elsewhere, but what about the new wine drinkers, they might not know the wine is bad and drink (sorry I threw-up a bit) it.
WHAT CAN I DO?

Wines were d'Arenberg - Footbolt and Leasingham - Bin 61

And I also work at a fine wine and spirits shop, however if I said it was light struck people would call me a wine snob.

Corked bottles have nothing to do with poor storage conditions and everything to do with the fact that the cork came from part of the cork tree that was infected. In time the cork goes bad in the bottle and the end result is a musty, damp cardboard smell. If your wine smelled like this then it was corked...If not, then its a different issue entirely. Poor storage leads to corks jetting up from the bottle a few centimeters prior to opening and overheating makes the wine evaporate leaving less liquid in the bottle. 2 fair signs of bad storage is a raised cork and less liquid. I would take the bottles back to the store and see if you can get credit. A corked bottle of wine is not your fault, the store's fault, their suppliers fault and certainly not the winery's fault. sh...it happens. don't worry. i guarantee you will find a good experience again at this liquor store.

Tell the store to fix their storage problem and reimburse you or you will approach

- office of fair trading
- ombudsman
- media (local newspapers)

in addition to spreading it on the internet that they suck big time

Here we have lots of signs in shop windows but the bottles are all on the racks in a nice cooled environment.

Mmmmmmm

Write a complaint letter to the Better Business Bureau and copy both your local newspaper and the winery.

Report them first to the Better Business Bureau then to the state alcohol and beverage commission. Then turn them in to your local news station.
