You better be careful of computer engineering.
Think of the potential for outsourcing overseas.
COmpanies are already doing it, All they have to do is send laptops and a LAN connection. BIts and bytes work on 1's and 0's which are the same in almost every language.
Besides, you can't outsource a power plant.

There is better prospect in Computer engineering however in the long run electrical engineering have a more stable prospect. In computer engineering you work in developing softwares, bugging, programming whereas in electrical engineering you need to do alot of calculation in the various designing, learn the principle of how the power plant work etc

Computer Eng. is dealing with how computers and systems are built.
Electrical Eng. is putting together electrical circuits ie. in buildings, machine panels, etc.
As for better prospect as a job? Either, would be great. But I think Electrical Engineers will be in higher demand in a few years.
Hope this helps!

The difference is in about 24 credits of 8 clases the big core of both concentrations are very similar. But Computer engineering is more similar to Electronic Engineering still they are different. Electronic and electrical are not exactly the same either. If I was you I'll choose Computer engineering.

For the reason that I work in a public utility company in the energy dpt, I hope I can help you. Electrical engineering career prepares people to be able to deal with all related with electrical and power systems. Electrical engineers can design, calculate, and organize everything in order to supply enough power to city and its citizens. For instance, they plan in advance the power needed, they design the power generation systems and power plants, wiring and power distribution, etc. On the other hand computer engineering deals more toward the design of the computers' software's and its wiring design. You can find more about or description on the two careers in any university website that offers them, i.e., San Diego State University, Cal Poly, University of California at San Diego, etc.
