I have a 2001 Jeep grand cherokee limited 4wd. Leather interior, power roof/mirrors/seats, heated seats, grille guard, sidebars, tow package, 6-cd changer, gps.
I want the 2007 Shelby GT500, $40,000
My Kellys Blue Book Trade in value is about $12,500.
Plus I have about 9,000 in the bank.
Now what should i do?

Work very hard. Save your money. Buy the car you want when you can afford it!
You are very lucky. You have a nice jeep. You seem to think that your parents should upgrade your vehicle to something you want! Why should they?
If you are old enough to drive, you are old enough to take responsibility for yourself!
There are many things that I want, and cannot afford. I work hard and have a good life, but I still could not spend $40,000 on a car.
Work, earn and enjoy what you want. Do not expect anyone to provide it for you!!!

first of all pray. God is the one that changes parents mind. I have a feeling that they will get it for you if they can. Take my advice and sell the jeep. Dealers do not use the same book on trades. I worked for dealers for many years but now retired. Be sure to tell your parents to check all the math at the end of the deal. They can ask the dealer to show the invoice for the new car and offer them 500-1000 dollars over invoice which will be way under sticker. never buy a new car if the salesman has taken the sticker off of the window. I hope this helps you but ask God before you ask your parents then they will say i do not know why i am willing to do this, but your saying thank you God.

Keep what you have and save tons on insurance. You don't say your age but I'll bet the Shellby will kill your insurance if you still need your parents to shell out for the trade. Sounds like a spoiled brat looking for a handout to keep up with the other brats in the neighborhood. Bought my kid an ''88 Tracer. If she wanted anything else to get back and forth to HS it was up to her. All it had to do was get her there and back. Did it fine.

You have an '01 grand cherokee limited with all the bells and whistles, 9 grand in the bank and you want US to help you convince your parents to buy you a $40,000 car. Do you still live at home? If so, you are a spoiled brat. You should thank your lucky stars that you have the car that you have. Get a job, and buy your own damn car. I had to earn every single penny for every car that I have ever owned and appreciated every single one of them. Get a life and worry about something alittle more important.

Make straight A's. Help around the house without being asked. And lower your expectations. You don't need a car that is that expensive.

There's lots of stuff I want but don't have. However, on a practical note, why don't you suggest that you and they go 50-50 on it. It's worth a try.
