I don't know if you're the one looking for the spouse for your child, or if you're the "child".
I think it would be best if the 'child' took advantage of their "singlehood" to serve Christ. It's in the serving that they'll meet their potential mate. The parent can pray fervently, maybe even fast, but be careful what you pray for...
I know many strong, happy Christian marriages, where the people were friends and served along side other singles and got to see the other person in action to see their character.
I think the child should take the parents advice on yes or no once the parent meets the potential spouse.
As far as advertising or shopping for a mate, you're looking for trouble.
God has the child single for a reason. The parent could also be praying for the future spouse that God is preparing the future spouse.
Does that even make sense?

If my adult son or daughter asked me sincerely for help, I would tend to talk it over with them and help them to define what they were looking for, encourage them to talk about the difficulties, and spiritually and emotionally (not physically) accompany them through their choices. In other words my role would be more a mentor than a chooser.
I realize that arranged marriages have as much chance of survival, statistically, as our typical north american style of marriage. Just that it's an awful big responsibility for the parents to take. Also, in our culture it would be kind of difficult.
One thing I would feel quite comfortable with doing is invite a family over for a meal, (a family that has a daughter/son that I think would be suitable, and see what happens.
A lot of prayer would be involved. Actually I believe our Heavenly Father can be great at 'arranging' marriages!
Take a note of Cosmic Castaway's suggestion. I think that is great: encourage them to get involved in activities with others, especially charity work, or volonteer work, where they will meet other committed young people and not the selfish type.

In Genesis Abraham sends his servant to find a wife for his son, Isaac, because he does not want his son to marry a woman from the land of Canaan. The servant goes and finds Rebekeh, negotiates with her father for her, and then brings her back to marry Isaac, Isaac was happy with the choice...happily ever after.
Anyway, things occur a bit differently today, but I do think it may be wise to at least consider advice that parents may give their children about prospective marriage mates, even if the ultimate choice is up to the person looking to get married.
I guess ultimately, it would depend on the motives the parents have in assisting with finding a spouse. Do they want their children cared for or do they want their children to marry rich so that they themselves can benefit from the union? That's one example I can think of.

In Biblical times, it appears that marriages were arranged (Genesis 24).
In American culture, it is typical for a person to bring someone that they are dating to meet their parents, so that Mom & Dad can have some input.
I suppose that the parents can ask their friends for suggestions on whom to introduce their son or daughter to.

The only thing I could suggest is to get them involved in activities that they will meet others. Charity work is a good idea, because you know they will be around people with good in their hearts.
