At least you are lucky you got an email! The guy I had liked disappeared without a good bye to me. I don't think your guy is ever coming back or wishes to see you again.

how long has he been gone?
ask around, maybe even his parents, if you've known him for 6 years, his parents must know who you are at least. ask a worthy source. it can check out to be true.
